Such conflicts are caused by the design of the Chrome browser and thus cannot be avoided. When SwitchyOmega has a higher priority, it can be configured to voluntarily give back the control by selecting the [System Proxy] item in the popup menu. Otherwise, you will see a red badge on the SwitchyOmega icon indicating insufficient priority. Re-installing SwitchyOmega should raise its priority, providing a possible workaround.

"Proxy Switcher and Manager" extension brings the power of proxy management to your browser. This will set it to use SOCKS proxy on localhost (127.0.0.1) on port 9051 (not sure where this is set, Tor's settings seem to use that), and check.torproject.org is just the address it will open with.

2 - you configure chrome to use a socks proxy (in the panel options/under the hood/change proxy settings/internet propriety/lan settings/proxy server/advanced/servers, fill the socks fields with the tor settings : localhost and the tor's port)

Proxy Switcher allows you to modify your proxy settings easily from the toolbar panel. Toolbar icon indicates the current type of proxy your browser currently using. The UI for changing proxies is very intuitive. It is very close to the Firefox proxy manager window. The extension is designed such that no resource is used while the panel is closed. This is probably the lightest proxy switcher add-on in the market.

1. No Proxy Mode: Your browser bypasses all system-wide level proxies and connects you directly to the internet. This is useful when there is a network issue caused by an external proxy tool

2. System Proxy Mode: Your browser uses whatever proxy your system is using. Sometimes you have an external software that manages your system-level proxy. Using this option allows the browser to follow the same proxy configuration.

3. Auto-detect Proxy Mode: Your browser automatically detects the proxy settings for your network

4. Manual Mode: You are going to explicitly define proxy server for each scheme. There are four schemes to consider: HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, and Other types of network requests. Using manual tab, you can specify different proxies for each scheme.

5. PAC Script Mode: This is the most powerful way to handle proxy settings of your browser. Basically by writing a PAC script (which is a JavaScript function) you can control routing based on host or url of the request. There is a pre-defined sample of PAC script in the PAC Script tab of the panel to help you start writing the code.

Using this extension there would be no need to digging through the advanced section of your browser anymore. All the settings are access from the toolbar panel. Besides, the toolbar icon is an indicator of the current proxy type. Hover mouse over the toolbar button to get more info.

As of version 0.1.2, the badge text displays the number of failed resources. Opening the panel, you can check these resources by pressing "Error Log" button. Using this new tool, you can modify your PAC script to support custom proxy setting for the failed resources.

I skimmed the source code of Proxy Switchy. It is mainly written in Javascript/HTML, but uses an external binary bundle to do proxy switching. Is this scheme doable in Safari extension? If not, is there other way to manage proxy settings in the extension?

I am having exactly same question although it is almost 2016 already and I am using Safari 9.0.2. It seems that Apple does not provide such an API for defining browser-specific proxy in extensions as Google does for Chrome. So I guess one would have to deal with system-wide proxy settings, that is to find solutions for setting up app-specific proxy.

Most likely your current location is set as 'Automatic'. Choose "Edit Locations ..." in the selection menu, and add additional Proxy Locations. For each Location you can setup different proxy settings, which you can switch directly from the apple menu. Just make sure you edit the correct Network Interface on which you want to apply the proxy settings (if you are connected through LAN, but you set the proxy only on Wifi - it wouldn't work).

Make sure that your Safari browser - or any browser you will be using - is set to use the "System Proxy Settings" ... and not it's own override. Safari always links back to the System Network Settings.

Proxy SwitchyOmega is free to use on both Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. You can as well download its extension via Github as it is an open-source project. The extension is available in five different languages, but you can configure it for any language by Webplate.

Interestingly, it supports different proxy configurations. This gives you the flexibility to do whatever you want. For instance, you can set up multiple switch profiles, rule lists and utilize fixed servers.

Any proxies will work well for Proxy SwitchyOmega most especially, mobile, residential, and data center proxies. Moreover, it is a tool that is geared towards proxy usage. Therefore, you should have no issues setting up your proxies with Proxy SwitchyOmega.

This is the only website i'm having problems with, the main website (www.url.x.x) can open without problems, the problem is on a link that has a logon screen, meaning you would go to the actual site, then click atleast 3 links to get to a link that has login screen and then enter the username and password, the website would take time say 3 mins processing and then at the end throw the above error. I can access the very same website using 3G or a cellphone without problems except when i'm going through the Sophos UTM proxy.

I tried creating exceptions for the actual website: Filtering options>Exceptions & added the website under Filtering options>Misc in the Transparent mode skip list, added it also on Allowed target services. Have also created a firewall rule to allow port 10443: Source host>service port 10443>Destination host and all this trouble still no luck.

For log no1 i have removed the srcip,dstip & the actual url(with urlLOGIN) for security reasons but for log 2 i only removed the srcip and did not remove dstip because i do not understand why that IP is the destination.
