As per a TOI report, According to the information given under the Right to Information (RTI) Act filed with the Department of School Education and Literacy, Union Ministry of Education and then transferred to NCERT, a total of 28 agencies of 23 states have been granted the right to publish NCERT books in the academic session 2020-21. The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Education conducts the HSC and SSC examination every year for the students in Maharashtra under nine divisional boards situated at Pune, Aurangabad, Mumbai, Kolhapur, Nasik, Latur, Amravati, Ratnagiri, and Nagpur.
