After the death of his mother Gwen from an accidental overdose of alcohol and pain medication, intelligent but rebellious eleven-year-old James Choke is sent to a children's home called Nebraska House; to his dismay, his half-sister Lauren Onions is sent to live with her neglectful father Ron. James' roommate Kyle Blueman is revealed to be an agent of CHERUB, a top-secret spy agency that uses children as its operatives, based on the principle that criminals do not suspect children of spying on them. James is drugged and taken to CHERUB's campus. Chairman Dr. Terrence "Mac" McAfferty introduces James to CHERUB and puts him through a series of entrance tests. James passes the tests and agrees to join CHERUB, changing his name to James Adams. However, before he can undergo basic training and become a CHERUB agent, James must learn how to swim. With the help of older cherub Amy Collins, James overcomes his fears and learns to swim.
To actually do this. All you really need is keyboard. Something small like this. Gut the pedal and the keyboard. You might even be able to fit the keyboard inside the pedal with the USB cable to replace the audio wire. The pedal probably has 3 leads, + & - and the resistor lead. Just find the + and - leads through trial and error (only 6 possible choices). Wire one of the keys to the leads in the pedal. When you press the pedal and close the circuit... keypress!
There are also wah-wah pedal style audio intrerfaces which have ports for expression pedals. These are usually for guitar, but there is no reason you can't use them as general audio interfaces, and the midi signals can be routed to ANY function, so the rocker pedal can be used for e.g. crossfade, volume, wah, toggle switch etc etc
The Minneapolis-based company Museum 411 produced the Chihuly smart-phone walking tour, which works best on a free smartphone app called STQRY. However, you can also stream audio from nonmobile devices at the Tacoma Art Museum's website.
When listening to the audio tour, you quickly get up to speed on Chihuly lingo. He works in series to explore variations, and the same shapes come up over and over in slightly different ways. His major series are cylinders, sea forms, [End Page 113] Macchia (which look like patterned, upside down skirts with crinkly edges), Persians, Venetians (vases and bottles), Ikebana (inspired by Japanese flower arrangement), Niijima floats, Putti (little Italian children, like cherubs) and chandeliers. From the narrator and excerpts of interviews with Chihuly, you learn about the artist's inspirations, techniques, materials, and challenges.

The season is the 37th programmed by Concerts & Lectures General Manager Hilde Limondjian.
