is there a way to import from excel and having the groups created automatically? I have my project in excel and is already divided into groups (xls row) but when I do the import monday recognizes everything as tasks and i need to create all groups manually.

No, sadly I did not hear back from anyone if this is possible or even in consideration.
@Monday I think this would help out for a lot of import problems and make the transfer from excel into Monday much easier.

Business Unit (the client acronym for the associated sector for which a project is being used. There could be multiple sectors represented by a single project, meaning a status column would not work, because I need to use more than one for a single item, sometimes. Again, depending on scalability to all of our clients, having a limit of unique values/indexes could create a problem in the future)

Also since we are working with a partner who is not using Monday and sends us the data in Excel Sheets, the only workable solution would be to have the option to import those tags straight from Excel. Otherwise we would spend hours manually typing the tags into Monday and that is just not an option.

My Office 365 has recently updated with the new wizard for importing data. I work with a number of text files which I import into excel using the Text Import Wizard. I would insert Fixed width columns and manually create column breaks as the data does not suit the delimited option, this has worked sufficiently for me.

You may choose form options to split on two columns or repeatedly by fixed width. If you have different widths you may split sequentially each next column or after first step in formula bar for this step modify it manually like

Ross, if you have some logic of how to split (e.g. based on width of the first three words in the column before the space, whatever) i guess it'll be possible to formalize it and automate. Query itself knows nothing about that logic, you have to define it somehow.

So, I ran into this issue of trying to import Excel data, and it kept failing. After much frustration I figured out the problem was importing to CHOICE or LOOKUP columns was the basic issue. Can't do it easily.

What I wanted to add to this is that in my case I imported some older data. Some of the lookup data in the Excel spreadsheet was not in the lookup table in my solution, so I still had a bunch of failures (about 15%). It took me a minute to figure that out. Once I did, it wasn't a big deal (for us anyway) to just substitute a valid lookup value.

Another thing I can't explain, maybe someone else can, is the template was missing columns... several. I wasn't given any opportunity to review or choose which columns ended up in the template, so I can't say why. I figured out a work around for that as well.

I am looking to import data from an excel file but need to transpose the data. I would prefer not to transpose ALL of the cells in excel prior to using the Excel Wizard on JMP but rather have JMP automatically transpose my data while importing it into a JMP table.

The goal is to avoid having to import the excel file into one JMP table and have to generate a second JMP data table using table > transpose. I would like to just have the data transposed into one data table from the start.

Hi. I wonder if anyone can help please. I have an existing board with 20 columns in a group. Is there any way of importing from excel into this group already. Everyway I try it just seems to create me a new board, which is not what i need. I need the imported columns to go into my existing group, ie on column 21 onwards for example. I know an easy fix would be to drag all the info onto 1 excel sheet and then import all of it together, but for reasons too long to explain this is not practical so it would be an import to an existing solution.
Any help would be fab
Thank you
