The Town of Southampton is undertaking a study of the former Damascus Road Landfill, 146 Damascus Road, East Quogue, to ascertain if contaminants are present on the surface or in the soil vapor, soils or ground water below this site. The site investigation being undertaken by the Town has been approved by the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC). The Town has employed the engineering firm of D&B Engineering and Architects ( -eng.com/) to conduct the investigation, a firm with broad experience in this field and familiarity with the Damascus site. The Town has also hired an international environmental consulting firm, Wood ( ), to provide project management and oversite of the site analysis. Once the investigation is completed and results have been evaluated, a Remedial Investigation Report will be prepared and submitted to the DEC for review and approval.
