Over-managed & Under-led

Management is the process of dealing with or controlling things or people.

Leadership is the action of leading a group of people or an organisation.

The differentiator between the two is that one is a stipulated process
whilst the other is a largely untested action. One is based on
protocol, the other is based on (timeless) principles and the present
moment. Process is limited — action is limitless. And exciting. And
creative.

The world is currently over-managed and under-led.

Sadly today some of the best leaders aren’t leading and tragically
some of the best managers have been rewarded with leadership
positions.

If we're all leaders, why isn't every worker allowed to lead
themselves, their work capacity, to whatever they think is best for
the company?

Yes, "leadership is within us". Yes, "it is an art." Yes, "it is
limitless and full of possibility." Then why the fuck not just let
people lead themselves to work on whatever the hell they want to, and
call that their *job*, and pay them, and have the privilege, as a
company, of owning the copyright, patents and physical artifacts
produced by that person?

Because money. Because fear. Because "cohesion". Because "business
plan." And then we're back to creating a caste, of "selecting" people
to "trust" with "leadership". Let's call them, um, I don't know...
"managers?"

Let's start at home, in the little world within our own control no matter how small, and be an example to all we cross paths with.

Yes, we can be companies of one, and see if we can merge or network with other companies of one.

But nothing will happen in this direction, in terms of organization, if the people "crossing paths" cannot conceive of it already. When people meet, the possibilities of togetherness are already within a realm of preconceived notions.

So the farthest we can go is remain alone as revolutionary and fully autonomous companies of one. Nothing wrong with that for the people doing it, but a terrible loss for those who can't understand it.
