Connelly Way Signs?

Kia ora friends,

I often run up Connelly way. The view is amazing as you can see down to Kāpiti and the ocean. I was really gutted to see the signs up yesterday ('Private Road, no thoroughfare'). I'm wondering if this is in relation to a particular incident (boy racers or something?) and whether some allowance might be made for walkers / joggers who live in our neighbourhood?

I also was up there with my family enjoying a picnic and that view of the Kāpiti. We just sat on the verge. I'm wondering if that crossed a line or something?

If anyone knows who made the decision to put the new signage up I'd love to reach out and check in as I feel really sad about this.
