Winter musingsHaven’t we been fortunate with a run of cold but sunny days- a great time to get out and do all those winter jobs in the garden. As we celebrate the coming of longer days, I’d like to acknowledge the Reikorangi Residents Association team who put on a very enjoyable and well attended Matariki event at the hall last week- such a nice opportunity to get together and have a yarn, the kids enjoyed a great night too with toasted marshmallows and the weather being great for zooming around on the tennis court and looking at the stars. In local news, construction has started on the new Waikanae Library Te Ara Whetu, and our rural rate rise should be very low in comparison to the rest of the District at about 1.5% - good news right! AGM - Sunday July 27, 3pm and Nominations please!The Resident’s Association’s AGM is scheduled for Sunday July 27, 3pm at the Hall. If you would like to nominate anyone to stand for Officers (Chair, Secretary, Treasurer), or the general committee please fill in and send the nomination form below to the secretary Sharon Daniel: email: reikorang...@gmail.com (click the button below to email the Secretary). Nominations must be received by Tuesday 22/7.
There is one notice of motion: To Reregister the Reikorangi Resident’s Association as an Incorporated Society, adopting the new constitution as published on the website. (Proposed: Julia Palmer, Seconded: Mark Gibbin). This is to comply with the new Incorporated Societies Act (2022) which comes into force in April 2026. You may view the the new constitution on the website www.reikorangiresidents.com

The Waikanae Business AssociationIf you have a business in the Waikanae area (and you don’t have to have a shop front, you may have a home based business), you might be interested in joining the recently formed Waikanae Business Association. The Association’s mission is to connect local businesses, increase sustainable business in our area and to advocate for local businesses as Kapiti grows. They are holding a free event on Monday 14th July at the Waikanae Chartered Club, at 5pm, to network and discuss their plans going forward.
