Autumn Update |
 |
An update to all you fine people on happenings and events in the Valley. |
Getting stuff done!We have certainly had a lot of projects surrounding us over the last 6 months - directly affecting residents ability to get around our district easily. Recent disruption on Reikorangi Road while council installs the new water treatment equipment and builds a new entrance has been pretty minimal so far in comparison with the closure of the Waikanae Bridge. After a lot of pressure, the contractors finished the Bridge project in a much shorter than expected timeframe and it really does look great with a much safer path across the bridge for pedestrians and cyclists. The Resident’s Association is currently applying for funding for the Reserve playground project, which has been a long time coming but it has taken us that long to save up enough funds to provide a reasonable deposit on the project - wish us luck! See below for an update on the hall.

Council interactions: Upgrade to the HallKCDC have nearly finished the building consents to start the badly needed upgrade to our community hall. Watch this space, its taken a while but the result will be a great improvement. Slash on Reikorangi RoadOur committee have been in touch with Sean Mallon at KCDC to see what can be done about the slash left after the logging on Reikorangi Road opposite the Water Treatment plant. There is some concern that this could wash down onto the road and cause another road closure. One of the council staff is going out to check the slash and we are waiting for them to report back. AntennoIf you see something that should be reported to council (like stuff dumped on the road or anything else that might need their attention), there is an app you can download onto your phone where you can make a report, called Antenno. Check your app store for Antenno, its super easy to use.
