Student tickets will be charged to credit/debit card used on the student ticket application. All cards will be processed between August 25th and August 28th. Prior to these dates, students should make sure they have sufficient funds in their account to cover the ticket balance due for all tickets requested. Students are responsible for payment on all requested/eligible tickets.
Due to the demand for Georgia Football student tickets, student dependents (spouse & children of UGA students) are NOT eligible to register for student football tickets. This is done in an effort to accommodate as many UGA students as possible.
UGA Athletic Association will make reasonable accommodations for students with disabilities. Companion tickets are available for students with disabilities. If you have questions regarding event accommodations or companion tickets, you are encouraged to register with the Disability Resource Center on campus. Should you still have questions, please call the UGA Ticket Office at (706)542-1231, menu option 2. For students who have already registered with the Disability Resource Center, including those approved for a reduced course load accommodation, please contact your coordinator after placing your order.
Unfortunately student tickets are not eligible for transfers. Students who cannot attend a home game can donate their ticket back to the ticket office to avoid a strike and their ticket will be given to a student in need at random. Students who do not already have a ticket to the game can request a free ticket that was donated starting Monday the week of each game.
The top division Spanish women's football clubs have until Friday to come to an agreement with the players on the conditions for what will be the first league-wide central contracts. The journey to this point was far from easy, though.
As a new signing this season for Madrid-based CD Tacon, Swedish national team player Asllani joined just as her new Primera Iberdrola peers began playing hard-ball with their clubs in negotiations. It took almost the entire 200-player roster boycotting all eight league matches over a weekend in November to get the clubs back to the negotiating table in a pay dispute that has dragged on for over a year.
"They know more than what I know, since I haven't been in Spain for that long," Asllani says of the player strike she participated in, which brought football to an eerie standstill in the country. "So I trust that [the players' association] made the right decision. That we all stand together being united in this, it's so important because this is not just about some teams or one league, it's about women's football in the world."
Last season 60,739 fans attended a league game contested between Barcelona and Atletico Madrid - the WSL's record is 38,262. And yet the Spanish players' association spent 14 months grappling with the Association of Women's Football Clubs (ACFF) on issues like minimum wages and including maternity, injury and holiday pay in the collective bargaining agreements they are still trying to finalise.
Asllani, 30, had her pick of clubs to join this season. "I could probably have played Champions League football, been able to fight for titles," she says. After forming a crucial part of Sweden's impressive third-place finish at the World Cup in France and then making the 20-player shortlist for the Ballon d'Or, you would be hard-pressed to argue with the woman they call the 'Female Zlatan'.
Why then did the former Manchester City and PSG midfielder join CD Tacon - a fledgling newcomer to Spain's top division? To be the first Galactica, of course, as the inaugural signing for the club that will next season become Real Madrid.
Tacon are a struggling team now, but next summer they will be renamed and wearing the famed badge of the most successful European club in history, as Real finally decided to make its first foray into women's football to the tune of a 500,000 takeover back in June.
"This was a unique possibility to build a team from the ground," Aslanni explains. "And be one of the cornerstones of what, long term, will be a very successful team." Right now though, they are 11th of 16 teams and got thrashed 9-1 in what was dubbed the first ever women's Clasico back in September.
"It's not fair to compare that game with a team that was built one month before the game," she says of the disappointing result, jumping to the defence of her still newly formed team. "I wouldn't count it as a Clasico - next year it will be a Clasico."
"But there's not another team on the planet that I would want to beat more than Barcelona, you still feel that rivalry. I'll feel it even more next year when we can put on the Real Madrid jersey. We'll be ready for that moment."
First is the challenge of getting the CBAs down in writing though, and Asllani believes the players' conviction, and that of other boycotting national teams like Jamaica and Zimbabwe post-World Cup, has been the result of seeing better conditions are within their grasp.
"If players elsewhere are asking for it, why can't we?" she says, referring to the October news that Australia will be granting their men's and women's squads equal pay. "It's rings on the water in a positive way, it's more and more people realising the value we have and what we can demand."
Vic, my favorite part of the game against Washington was seeing Aaron and Mike smiling and messing around again. It's been a long time since they have been happy during a game. I think that signifies the page has been turned and they have given everyone hope they can make a run at this thing. What type of game are you expecting in Arizona?
I expect it to be won on a walk-off field goal. It's playoff football. Both teams have top quarterbacks. What happened in Week 16 was an anomaly. That's not going to happen again. Prepare yourself for the dramatic.
I hate to see any town lose its team. The NFL awards franchises to places, not people. I get the sense, however, Oakland has quit on its attempt to keep the Raiders. San Diego hasn't quit on its attempt to keep the Chargers, but it's moving too slowly, and let's not forget the Chargers were born in Los Angeles and left there for San Diego. I think St. Louis is committed to keeping the Rams, and I'd like for that to happen; I don't want to see pro football strike out in St. Louis again. A Chargers-Raiders deal in LA makes sense. The Chargers wouldn't be leaving their market, and both teams would be returning to a place they once called home. I'd then like to see one of those teams moved to the NFC West, which would bring the Rams to LA once a year. I think that's a formula for success in LA, and it's of critical importance that every effort is made to make pro football successful in LA. What team leaves the NFC West for the AFC West? That's the remaining question.
That's the big question that accompanies teams coming off a bye. The Jaguars were coming off a bye in 1999 when they beat the Dolphins 62-7, but the Packers were coming off a bye when they lost at home to the Giants in 2011. The bye becomes a convenient excuse for losing, either way. Baloney on that! Win the game. No excuses.
Stop the run and make them one-dimensional. If the Packers can do that, they can move Clay Matthews outside and turn him loose on Carson Palmer. The Cardinals don't want that to happen. They want Matthews playing inside.
