I am trying to download Diablo 3 to be ready at the release date, but I have a problem with the Blizzard Downloader. Unfortunately downloading is very slow and there is a yellow message that says "A listening port could not be opened".

According to this you need ports 6881-6999 open for peer to peer traffic. Make sure your computer and local routers have these unblocked (or at least, properly forwarded). Most routers also have a "DMZ" option for computers, which you can temporarily place your computer in for unrestricted access to the internet. Search Google for "[your router name] DMZ" to learn how to enable this.

Unfortunately, these are common bitTorrent ports and your ISP might be throttling or blocking these ports. If you go to View > Connection Info in the downloader you can see where the problem lies. Most likely only the "Direct Connections" are available and no other "peers".

I had this same problem, and while your question asks specifically with how you open ports, which I think the other answers do a good job describing, that didn't actually result in faster download speeds for me, and based on some comments you left it sounds like it didn't work for you either.

After doing this and restarting the downloader, I suddenly went from truly abysmal speeds (like, 100 MB downloaded over 3 hours) to a > 800 KB/s transfer rate. Even with P2P disabled (and thus, I think, not even needing the port forwarding) I was getting these speeds. Everything else I'd tried before this, such as forwarding ports, disabling the firewall, turning off anti-virus, or enabling/disabling P2P had no effect on my actual speeds.

DISABLE peer-to peer transferring altogether, my download went from 12 hours to 3. Main reason you get about 6x more downloaders then you get uploaders. It is a nice idea but still a waste of connections.

You can find Internet Options through the control panel, this has been true since WinXP at least, and is still true for Vista and Windows 7. No need to launch IE.As another posted, disabling automatic proxy detection somehow for some reason fixed my download rate. Went from 35kb/sec to the proper 1mb/sec (my service cap). No peer-to-peer is enabled.

although i cant disprove that it is a bug. my anecdotal evidence of it being RNG is that my friend and i both completed our gr70 at about the same Paragon (250's) and are both 650+ i have received 2 primal, and he 0.

My friends get like 1-2 primals per day. I have yet to see 1 drop.

My luck with ancients seem off as well as I can go 25-30 legendarys easily before an ancient drops and that can happen again immediately after.

Last season I had all but 1 item ancient by the time I was P800 and now at P800+ I have barely 1/3 ancients.

I know it's RNG, but it feels way off compared to what I'm used to seeing every other season.

Sorry but i don't know why these post exist. You guys do know what RNG is? A Random Number Generator is like playing bingo. With a 1% drop rate this means there are 99 Zeros and 1 One in the binary code. 1% = the chance you'll get something. This means you have a chance to get nothing but Zeroes when that 0.01 coefficient hits. This does NOT mean let 100 legendaries drop or craft 100 legendaries and you are guaranteed 1 Primal.

The only way to Increased your odds is to play more, do higher level GRs (70+), or spam Hope of Cain.

RNG is a bitch, period. P840 when my first one dropped, I even leveled a Wiz to do a GR71 on that after I unlocked it on my Barb on the 4th of April. While group mates were getting them left and right, I got none. Of course the first one dropped after I cleared GR70+ on my Wiz, did that fix anything, probably not. But for me personally, I now no longer feel bugged, cause the first one dropped ;-)

I had gotten several on the PTR (yeah I know) and I've gotten 3 in season 10 live play. So yeah I got some extra souls which probably really did make a difference in crafting a decent hellfire ammy. World keeps spinnin'.

Passed 20 Primals since season start. Only got 2-3 usable items for the builds I'm doing though. 1 wasn't even really an upgrade, aside from the higher secondary resistance.

Haven't played much, the last week or so. Got to P87x or something like that and took a break.

The 2 guys I play with, have gotten between 4 and 7 that I know of, each.

I'm not faking anything (Sadly - if someone was to fake something like that, they would probably have stated they had way more usable Primals...). I've only really gotten shit items so far and the ones I could use, wasn't a big upgrade (as stated).

Sadly I haven't saved them all (seeing as there is really no reason to), but I do have something like 6 or 8 in my stash still and 1 equipped (Tal headpiece).

4 of the Primals I've gotten, have actually been from the Bounty caches. 2 of which was the Act 1 mace (..so nothing worth using at all).

First 2 Primals I got, was both from the Blackthorne set (really hope that gets re-made into a Necromancer set...). As said; nothing worth saving.

You're acting like it's a big fucking deal, with the Primals - it's mostly a small upgrade on your gear if you already have mostly ancient (except weapons, where it could be a big upgrade in some cases). I think I got 20-30 more Int on my headpiece, along with maybe 70-100 more Vit. Sure; that's a fair bit of Vit, but it's not something to jump up and down like crazy about..

I'm nowhere near 'over the moon' when a Primal drops for me and it's some gear piece - if it's a weapon; I might get a little excited, if it's just a little bit usable for something.

Gotten 2-3 primals, all on useless legendaries. With how many useless legs there are and how rare primals are, it may as well not even be a feature in the game because the season is going to end before you get one that actually goes into a top build.

Checklist for activities: regular Rifts, Greater Rifts, bounties, rares upgrades, reforge legendaries and regular legendary drops. All for nothing. To be honest it is like someone mentioned, I've started to think that it is some kind of conspiracy and GR70 hasnt unblocked drop for me or I'm punished for mainly solo play;) RNG GFY

do you need to clear above 70 to get them as iin 71 or higher or is it enough to clear 1 70 rift in time ? I have done the latter, but i rerolled after doing so. Pet ai is horrible now. I think its worse than its ever been. Running into a pack. Pop garg and fetishes ontop of the elite pack. Oh hey, lets go on an adventure. herpaderp. And im like, urm. Guys. Need help here.

You also need to remember that even if you decide to purchase the game on Steam, you will still need Battle.net account to launch it. This will cause your progress from Battle.net (if there is any) to be automatically transferred to Steam. So, you won't lose all the unblocked elements.
