If you have the know-how and are tech savvy enough to diagnose and
clean your registry on your own then by all means go for it. Just make
sure you back up ALL of your information onto disks or an external
hard drive before you attempt to clean or repair your registry, just
in case you mess something up that cannot be reversed. Anything can
happen, and it's better to be safe than sorry.
You can pretty much diagnose your system without any computer
knowledge. Basically, if it is running slowly, freezing up on you,
giving you a blue screen, error messages all the time or crashing and
not rebooting; then you most likely have registry problems or errors
that must be fixed. These registry problems can be fixed easily by a
professional, but driving to a computer specialist and leaving your
computer with them for days (or weeks) can be very inconvenient and
VERY costly.
I believe that purchasing and downloading a registry cleaning and
repair software is pretty much considered cleaning it yourself. You
have to buy the program, install it and then run each individual scan
and wait for it to give you the diagnostics. Then you will have to
choose which action to take and what type of repair or cleaning the
program will perform. How much more on your own can it be? Unless you
have a degree in computer science how are you supposed to fix a
registry manually without the help of a registry cleaning and repair
software? I don't think it's very feasible.
