If you've been an early adopter of the Vista platform, hopefully
you've been able to enjoy the benefits of this new OS. Unfortunately,
you may also have been the first to be a victim of registry errors
too. If your Vista computer seems sluggish, suffers from browser
crashes, or pops up with error messages, you likely have some form of
registry corruption. If you are thinking about fixing these registry
errors for free, here are some things to consider.
Tip #1: Searching online will often reveal the cause of error messages
in Windows Vista. As this is a new OS, the details might not be fully
available from other users yet. There may be some suggestions for you
to get into the registry yourself to try and fix the errors, but try
these out at your own risk.
Tip #2: Just as with earlier versions of Windows, deleting registry
files can cause damage to your entire system if you are not one
hundred percent sure about what you are doing. Make certain you have
identified the correct error and the correct fix before proceeding. Of
course, remember to back up your system before making any changes to
the registry.
Tip #3: Free fixes will allow you to take care of one error at a time
as they occur. With a new OS such as Vista, new patches and fixes will
constantly be coming out, so you may find yourself spending a lot of
valuable time with this is you focus on free options alone. You'll
want to decide how much your time is worth to you when comparing free
options against paid services.
