Dear delegates,
As many of you may have been told by me, I would be sending out emails regarding updates to these two events. I have not sent out those updates yet due to recent developments. This will be the email that you were waiting for.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the SSCCC Board will be holding a special vote this evening to determine the next steps regarding the two events. After careful consideration and observing that nearly all schools in the Region have canceled classes and suspended travel, I have decided to vote to cancel March in March and suspend General Assembly indefinitely. RAD Hope and I have also decided to postpone Region VII's retreat indefinitely.
I would like to represent my constituents when discussing and voting on plans for the two events. Therefore, I wish to get your opinions ahead of the meeting at 8:30 pm later.
Please note that the cancelation of March in March does not mean a cancelation of all our lobbying and advocacy efforts. SSCCC's advocacy efforts will continue and we are in plans to arrange a local advocacy day if conditions permit.
In the meantime, I have also requested information on systemwide policies and/or legislation to aid student workers who may have lost their jobs and students with disabilities who require accommodations not available via remote teaching.
I wish everyone the best of help in this trying period. If you have any concerns at all, please let me know.
In solidarity,
Chern Xun Gan
