Dear Africa Institute fellows,

I hope this message finds each of you very well. I want to highlight a number of educational and professional development opportunities that are available to young leaders in Africa.

The first opportunity is called the Young Professionals Program (YPP), run by the African Development Bank. Information on this opportunity, as well as the application, can be found here:  http://www.afdb.org/en/careers/young-professionals-program-ypp/overview/. In short, the Bank hires approximately 20 young professionals (under the age of 32) per year to work in a number of critical areas, including governance, education, gender, and private sector development.

There is also a range of scholarship opportunities available from the Mo Ibrahim Foundation. Please find relevant information here: http://www.moibrahimfoundation.org/en/section/scholarships/scholarship-opportunities. In particular, you might pay attention to the Ibrahim Leadership Fellows Program; this program is a unique mentorship opportunity that places fellows in the executive offices of influential multilateral institutions, including the African Development Bank, the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), and the World Trade Organization (WTO). The next deadline for applications is July 31, 2011. You may find all pertinent information here: http://www.moibrahimfoundation.org/en/scholarship/scholarships/scholarship-opportunities/ibrahim-leadership-fellowships.html

I hope this information is helpful, and please do not hesitate to be in touch.

Sincere regards,

Jeff
