Meet the police mystery shopper!

Today one of our team went along to the "meet the police" at Brighton Library and here is their report.

After managing to find the team, I thought i would act like a mystery shopper and try to drop in some questions while picking up some leaflets.
Here are the summarised questions I asked.

  • 1. why do i never see patrols in North street and western road"
  • 2. Why do you never move on illegally parked cars?
  • 3. What are you doing about illegal bike riding?
  • 4. how do i find out about any other meet the police/can you hold them in the evening.
  • 5. what is a LAT?

and here are their answers!?!?!

Council launches insulation grant for families

heating grantA scheme that offers grants to improve the energy efficiency of homes and help residents save money is to be extended to include families with children under 16.

It is estimated that the new Family Insulation Grant could benefit around 3,500 families. It will initially be available to private residents with young families living in homes with one or two bedrooms. Subject to funding, the council will also extend the scheme to a wider range of households in the future.

Councillor Maria Caulfield, Brighton & Hove’s cabinet member for housing, said: "Many families with young children are facing rising fuel bills, as well as mortgage or rent payments and have little disposable income.

"Brighton & Hove has been very successful in bidding for government funding which means we can now offer grants to families most in need, providing free insulation and helping them save money on energy.

blitz announced in Hove

Dog owners who don’t clean up their pets’ mess are facing £80 fines.

Brighton and Hove’s first crackdown on dog fouling offences is to be launched in the Goldsmid ward, Hove.

Council officers have agreed to give staff the power to hand out on-the-spot tickets.

Councillor Melanie Davis, who represents the area and has been pushing for the pilot scheme to be introduced, said: “This is great news for Hove. I constantly receive complaints from residents in the area about the state of the pavements with regard to dog fouling.

“I have been working closely with residents, pet owners and local police teams to push for tougher action.

“Hopefully this will encourage all dog walkers to take responsibility for their pets.

“We will be working to ensure that the Conservative council reinvests the income generated by these on the spot fines of up to £80 into continued street-cleaning programmes.”
