Hello Refurbishers,

I received the news yesterday that we will no longer be able to license Office 2019 after June 30th. Has anyone heard yet if there will be another version made available to us, or is this it for Office citizenship licensing?

Office 2019, and Office 2010 before it, were very helpful to the low income families and other groups that we help provide refurbished computers and laptops to. This seems sad to me.

Thoughts or recommendations?

Many thanks for your collective responses!

Thank you Dave. I am loosely familiar with that product and OpenOffice but when

it comes to helping with job training, my hope was to be able to continue to offer

the product that the corporate world seems to be standardized on: M’Soft Office.

Oh well, it sounds like I may not be able to continue to do thatl. L

You can promote the free version of MS O365.

It is limited, but a way to use MS apps for free to get started. We also teach everyone to use free Google and Apple productivity suites.

See my prior post on the Universal Desktop.

Hi Jim,

I thought I'd mention another alternative office suite: OnlyOffice
(note: not the same as OpenOffice, nor LibreOffice)

https://www.onlyoffice.com/en/download-desktop.aspx

OnlyOffice is available for Windows, MacOS, and Linux. We've been
adding it to our Xubuntu and Linux Mint installs for awhile now. It
has a few things that make it better adapter for newer users:

1. Each program in the suite saves in the same format as Microsoft
Office (.docx, .xslx, .ptpx, etc.)
2. "Out of the box" the ribbon for each program looks closer to MS Office
3. There's a program for creating PDF forms
4. You can have tabs of the suite applications all open and switch
between them by clicking the tabs at the top of the program (word
processor, spreadsheet, spreadsheet, presentation)
5. One program to launch any of the 4 programs

The website is a bit of a pain since they also have an online
component. We found that for Windows it's best to grab the .msi file.
We ran into an issue with the .exe (I don't remember what the issue
was) awhile back:

https://download.onlyoffice.com/install/desktop/editors/windows/distrib/onlyoffice/DesktopEditors_x64.msi

I still primarily use LibreOffice because there are more
features/etc., but OnlyOffice really is a great alternative,
especially for anyone with basic MS Office experience.
