As some of you might know I'm a very big fan of Inkscape, the free
vector drawing program for Linux, Macintosh, and Windows. If you search
the web for: Inkscape screencasts
you'll come across a large number of very high quality screencasts by
two creative partners, HeathenX and Richard Querin. These screencasts
not only explain about the program, they show and explain many nifty
tips and techniques for using the program.
These evening I prepared a QuickTime file of one of their
introductory screencasts that I can install on the donated iMac G3's
(and G4's) that I'm delivering these days. I used specially selected
QuickTime codecs that ought to make this file play well on older
Macs. (It probably plays well on any Pentium III or IV with QuickTime
installed.)
Anyway, you can view the Quicktime and download a zipped file of the
QuickTime from the Internet Archive at http://tinyurl.com/ykeycj5
To view the file, look on the left side of this web page for All
Files: HTTP. Then click on the file microsode1.mov to view or
microsode1.mov.zip to download.
How did I create this QuickTime from the source file playing in my
web browser? I used a Mac screencasting program called ScreenFlow.
Hope this helps others. If we can get our community members
comfortable using vector drawing software they can produce all
kinds of graphics for their needs, including their print needs.
(Anyone remember print? Weren't those the days. <grin>)
