Once you remove the batteries from the laptops they become hazardous waste and must have the terminals taped.
We have found that if we leave the batteries in the laptops to be recycled, they are not hazardous waste. You should be receiving money for your recycled laptops through your Recycler either through CalRecycles or for E-Scrap.
