Good Afternoon Everyone!

I hope you’re all having a great week! I’m getting in touch with some updates on the Refugees Into Jobs Service

Open for IAG Referrals!

  • We are currently open to referrals for our Information, Advice and Guidance service which includes support from RC employment advisors and online courses.
  • To refer someone you are working with for general employment support please complete the internal referral form and send it back to r...@refugeecouncil.org.uk along with photos of the front and back of client’s BRP card (or their Inform number if it is already saved on inform).

Working in the UK course with PWC in August:

  • Our next 6-week advanced level employability course is starting on August the 16th . It runs every Friday from 10am-12pm and it is co-delivered by RC employment advisors and volunteers from the accounting firm PWC .
  • Referrals: The course is aimed at those with professional backgrounds or qualifications although the eligibility is mainly the same as the criteria listed below, it is a  fast paced course so we will assess whether client’s English level is appropriate for the course during a screening call. Otherwise please follow the same referral process of sending the completed form to r...@refugeecouncil.org.uk .
  • Once clients have completed the course they will receive ongoing support from an employment advisor if wanted.

Starbucks Course in August – Accepting Referrals (Please read info on Locations):

  • Our next Starbucks employability course will start on the 12th of August. The referral form and flyer are attached – please send completed Starbucks referral forms (Attached) and photos of the front and back of BRP cards (Or inform number if saved there) to Eloise...@refugeecouncil.org.uk and tina.p...@refugeecouncil.org.uk by the 5th of August at the latest. (Please not that referrals are accepted on a rolling basis and may close before this date so it is best to send earlier if possible)
  • Interviews for this course are likely to ONLY be in the following locations. Please have a look or consult your client on the cost and time of the commute from where your client lives to these locations before referring:
    • Canon Street EC4
    • Euston Road W1/NW1
    • South Wimbledon SW19
    • Paddington Square W2
    • Liverpool street EC2

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Refugee status, Humanitarian Protection, family reunion, Resettlement/Ukraine schemes - with evidence of BRP card, Home Office letter or family reunion visa as applicable.
  • Living in England (IAG support) / Living in London (Starbucks)
  • English speaking and listening Entry level 3 or above
  • Basic IT Skills
  • Over 18 years old

RIJ Service Overview Leaflet:

  • I have attached a RIJ Service overview leaflet which can be printed and shared with clients – it details the different courses and includes the referral process for Building Bridges which is separate to the rest of RIJ – feel free to share this with clients.
  • (Please note we are not accepting referrals for IKEA programmes at the moment).

Feel free to share this information with your clients and colleagues that I may have missed! If you have any questions please contact r...@refugeecouncil.org.uk , although due to annual leave, replies will be slower from the RIJ email in the next week so if you have any urgent enquiries this week please direct them to Tina.P...@refugeecouncil.org.uk (Starbucks related) or Bahar....@refugeecouncil.org.uk (IAG / Working in the UK related).

Best wishes and have a lovely evening!

Eloise
