Crimson (クリムゾン, Kurimuzon) is the previous Winged Monarch who betrayed the dragons and tried to kill the Dragon God. Crimson teamed up with Ragna to slay all dragons, himself included.[1]
Crimson's true appearance isn't clear as he uses different identities to hide himself, the only consistent characteristic being the 2 eyes, the right one is green while the left one is red and dragon like but usually it's hidden by his long hair or something else. The identity Crimson choose to use the most while assisting Ragna is Crish Weiss, a magician or thaumaturge. He wears a dark brown magician hat with a golden symbol on it and a dark brown dress, adorned with golden lines, that leave his upper shoulders naked. His hair is crimson color, usually the same color in most identities he uses. On his neck there's a tattoo patter with unknown meaning. Crimson's skin is particularly light.
Crimson claims to trust no one, even when collaborating closely with others. He's always one step ahead and he shows it by planning ahead and tricking anyone, whenever needed, successfully. Crimson doesn't lack knowledge either and in case he does he always tries first to get information by himself or through his servants before acting. Crimson's compassion only extends as far as himself; he cares not for neither dragon nor human. His ends justify the means, committing any cruelty or atrocity to accomplish his goals. Crimson's preferred method of action is through psychological warfare. In the rarest cases where his planning fails completely, he ends up in a tantrum unable to either understand where he failed or accept it.
Crimson talks on a condescending, authoritative manner and looks down on everyone. He doesn't mince his words and is brutally blunt when expressing himself, often times psychologically and emotionally torturing whoever is on the receiving end of his cruel, but still accurate words. His utter lack of tact makes him come across as a "jerk" in Ragna's view, something Crimson doesn't even try to deny and in fact takes immense pride on it.
Crimson is very secretive and manipulative, often times withholding information or being misleading. He extends this to his enemies as well, tactically weaponizing the Dragons' pride against them by hurling insults or provocations to lure them.
Although the full extent of his motives is not revealed, Crimson resents himself, and hates his inability to die on a very personal level. He was enraged towards Ragna when he believed he was cursed as a result of his own tragedies, which prompted Crimson to shot himself at point-blank, exposing his immortality and elaborating that his condition was much more of a curse and chastised Ragna into ever thinking he could be cursed like himself.
However, this coup ultimately failed, ending with him defeated while the fate of most of his bloodline is unknown. Following this, Crimson went into hiding when everybody else believed he'd been killed, he didn't waste any time and spent it preparing thoroughly in order to not fail a second time.
Through unknown events, Crimson disguised himself as a young maid who ended up in Temruogtaf's captivity with other maids. In the morning of March 1st, Temruogtaf attacked Ronabera with the Wriggling Shade, a forest combined with draconic magic that protects him from sunlight, because of the presence of the survivors but he didn't know of Grymwelte's failure and death. After trying a meal cooked by a chef he kidnapped before, Temruogtaf realized there's nothing better than human flesh thus he started eating, one after another, all his human staff and left the disguised Crimson last. Shortly after his killing spree, Ragna woke up from his slumber and run to the center of the forest with immense speed, drop kicked Temruogtaf and saved the last maid. Ragna, after being surprised to see the maid, didn't waste his time on Temruogtaf's request of surrender and quickly disposed him with a silver aura bomb which killed the superior dragon and the whole forest. Before going, Ragna officially departed from Leonica, his cherished companion as she wasn't strong enough to travel with him anymore but not before one of her tantrums which forced him to knock her out.
Now far away, the maid asked Ragna if he intended to depart from her like that, but Ragna replied it was fine like that as the only one who can travel with him are those whose death didn't matter to him or those who couldn't die. Crimson was perplexed to his answer and Ragna realized their meeting was pure coincidence, but it didn't matter as their accidental encounter saved him time. Ragna declared his intention of hunting all dragons and requested the help of Crimson but the maid was confused and tried to introduce herself but Ragna interrupted him before he could finish and completed his introduction: his cover up was Eliza Yorkshire, a maid from a farming village who went working in a mansion but after the dragons attacked he went missing, but his real identity was Crimson, the previous Winged Monarch of the Winged Bloodline who tried to kill the Dragon God for which he was branded as a traitor. He explained the future and how they fought together: it was him from the future which made possible the transfer of his power from his future self to his present. But his request was meet with a slap in the face from Eliza in tears who declared him a very rude person for his absurd declarations.[2]
Crimson disguised as Eliza Yorkshire was walking towards no precise destination while Ragna was still following him. Crimson was quite annoyed by Ragna still following him and his pleas to stop following went unheard, he then asked him how it possible she was a dragon if the sun was up, and he replied that she simply sealed her dragon nature. She thanked him for saving her and wished him the best for his hunting on his own but remarked him she was a woman, but Ragna replied that she could change sex whenever she wanted, Eliza tired of him continued to walk. Crimson deep in thought found Ragna's silver aura and story interesting but one of his servants intruded his thinking by asking he was going to trust him, Crimson assured he would not as he was mostly curious on his silver aura. The servant asked what he would do if he found Ragna to be useless and Crimson replied he would just dispose him by tricking him into death. Eliza didn't notice but while she was deep in thought Ragna closed the distance with her face which scared her by the surprise, Ragna tried to convince Crimson by listing what he did for Leo he could do the same for him, but he only got a disgusted reply. Ragna then as last card decided to show Crimson his true power but before being able to do it he collapsed, Crimson took the opportunity and analyzed his body and discovered he fused his flesh with a silver sword and he didn't simply cover himself with silver aura but he exuded it, the potential of Ragna he though previously was way higher and he was unable to contain his excitement for testing it out as soon as possible. Crimson fixed some of his most chaotic flows of aura but was unable to understand how such boring figure was able to get such power and realized that maybe his claims of the future were real. Ragna woke up near a fireplace while it was already night and Eliza greeted him saying she couldn't just leave behind her savior. Eliza asked if what the dragon he previously killed claimed about the destruction of Kingdom was true and Ragna assured her it's the truth, because of their intention they need to hunt all dragons now including the Winged Monarch who leads them. Eliza asked if he was joking but Ragna explained they did it more than 20 years in the future but now they can do it way earlier. Shortly after Ragna heard noises coming from a nearby abandoned village in fire, he grabbed Eliza and run full speed towards it, Ragna asked Eliza what she wanted him doing and she replied to kill all dragons with a show of force. Ragna quickly kills all the dragons and a superior dragon with a barrage of silver swords. Eliza was able to grab a silver sword from the aftermath and test its edge realizing the possibility of creating an army equipped by Ragna's sword. Crimson released Slime from his stomach and ordered him to clean up the remaining dragons then Crimson reveled himself to Ragna showing interest in their alliance but because his powers can be a threat to him Crimson would accept the alliance if Ragna drunk a poison which would activate only the moment he rebelled against Crimson. Ragna didn't beat an eye and drunk the poison which left Crimson deluded by his lack of hesitation and asked him what was pushing him so much to kill all dragons, Ragna replied he wanted to protect what his future-self lost. Crimson found his intention extremely boring but he recognized Ragna as a tool had potential, so they allied for the destruction of the dragon race, the dragon god and himself lastly.[3]
Crimson present himself as a magician and Ragna as the dragon slayer, Ragna the Reaper, to the dragon hunters' survivors and to their questions of what just happened he just replied it was just magic, a phenomenon widely known but not deeply enough to be questioned by anyone. Michael, the chief of the dragon hunters' group, thanked the duo and explained they flee away from Tortiere when a sudden violent Tornado hit and destroyed the city. Crimson recognized instantly it was done by Disaster Thrower, 3rd rank of the Winged Bloodline. Ragna decided to hunt him immediately but Crimson intervened and with a simple push made Ragna collapse, he didn't realize the fatigue of his muscles. Crimson suggested Ragna to take a 3-day break and leave all the work to him while showing his diabolical smile. Crimson refuses the request of the hunters to intervene, he first reminded them their uselessness but then he showed them there was a way: Ragna's silver swords. Truth was Crimson wanted to experiment Ragna's silver aura and weaponry on low level warriors and see their effectiveness. [4]
