I would like to share some of the sources I think we can pull a lot of
design, IA and layout elements from:

http://carsonified.com/blog/
- I love the overall layout, look and feel of this website. Very well
organized with lots of personality.

http://52weeksofux.com/
- Their idea of the 'weeks' navigation would be interesting to apply
to our meetings. A quick way to jump to past months, the current
month, and future event previews would be a nice way to interact with
the site.

http://beautifulemails.com/
- This is a pretty common layout- though this is because it's very
easy to navigate, quick to skim, and not information overload. Though
I do feel it is a bit sterile and unexciting.

http://monstersuit.co.uk/
- Maybe to get the community more involved, while building more
traffic to the site, we can offer monthly contests to design the
background of the website? This could help bring in more artistic
people, rather than just designers.

http://www.onecheekypixel.com/
- I like this layout as a possible 'Media' or 'Events Archive' page
with large image slideshows or video of the events.

Sounds good. I think a set of Contest pages would be good for the community.

All the sites you've shown look good. I think getting inspiration from these sites is a good thing.

We should definitely move ahead and create that is useful.
