Anyone planning to attend, http://www.edwardtufte.com/tufte/courses

It would be cool if we could get 10 people to register together and
get the 25% discount

I am going to that session.
Do you remember the book that I showed you at Din Ho the first meeting
we had? That is one of Tufte's books. Also, if you have any of the
books, they will give you $25 discount for every book you have since the
price for the class includes 4 books. A recommendation I heard is that
it is really helpful to finish reading all 4 books before we attend the
session.

Please let me know, I will try to get some people to go with so we can
get the 25% discount.

I saw his talk in Boston a few years ago and the principles it taught
have been useful time and time again. I would suggest it to anyone.

I attended this a couple of years ago in Virginia. It was excellent,
would highly recommend.

I'd be interested in attending. I didn't see anything about a discount
for having some of the books already, but now that I know that, I'm
more interested in attending if that lowers the cost.

I highly recommend browsing through his books if you haven't already.
My favorite statistical graphic is still Napolean's March –
http://www.edwardtufte.com/tufte/posters that I saw about 10 yrs ago
now that I think about it.

I actually called them couple months ago to find out. I will make sure
to verify this again though.

I've been following Edward Tufte for years. Would be very interested
to join the group on Dec. 10th.

I saw him a while back as well and thoroughly recommend the training.
Hopefully he has modified it to account for the Web and other
interactive mediums. When I went he glossed over the Web as it didn't
provide the capabilities to provide an information dense presentation
when compared to print. Since then he has released his thoughts on
sparklines which I was very happy to see, and like to use when I
encounter them in apps like Google Analytics.

Warren, I actually have that poster in my cube here at work. They
included it as a part of the materials when I attended and my wife
framed it for me. It is an amazing example of information design.

I think what really amazes me about "Napolean's March" is when the
original was made. 1869!

I feel grossly inadequate here as this is the first I have heard about Mr. Tufte - This sounds like this would be time worth taking for the class so consider me interested.

You can pay as a group or individually. To get the group discount all
information has to be provided to us as a complete package.

There are no double discounts. If you are putting together a group of 10
for
the group discount, there is no additional discount for owning books.

Please register by fax or mail.

Thank you!

I'm also planning to attend and would love to try and get the 10
person 25% discount.
So far, in following this message thread, there seem to be about 10
people already...?

What do you guys think is the best way to coordinate this effort? If
you want, all interested parties can email me off list at
caro...@trademarkmedia.com so that I can get a head count.

According to the website, group registrations have to be mailed or
faxed in, and it looks like one person would need to put it all on
their credit card (I guess that's the reason for the discount)...
I calculated 10 registrations at $380 each = $3800 - 25% ($950) =
$2850 or $285 each. I'm happy to volunteer my credit card to charge
all of the registrations, but I would need everyone to get the money
to me somehow...and by a certain date I presume....

We could also use this: http://www.chipin.com/ - but I'm open to
suggestions....

This must be the last email regarding Tufte's Class.
I have created a blog
http://refresh-tufte.blogspot.com/

Please use this so we can coordinate this off the list.
Sorry about that~

A request for the folks going to the Tufte session - please send out
a reminder a little while before you register just in case people
want to join at the last minute and haven't signed up on the site you
created. :)

Cheers,
