Responsibilities:
The User Experience Designer will
• Apply experience and best practices to tackle complex design challenges within aggressive timelines
• Work closely with the User Experience Manager to define best practices and visual design patterns
• Create sets of design families to be used throughout Pluck’s wide array of standalone widgets
• Work as a part of the UX team to create products that encourage interaction and take advantage of the capabilities provided by modern Web technologies
• Extend existing designs to new features and components
• Work on multiple concurrent projects in different phases of completion, from conception through QA
Mandatory Skills and Experience
• Minimum of three years professional experience designing Web application interfaces
• Minimum of five years designing Web sites for brands and/or publishers
• Proven ability to rapidly iterate designs and design patterns
• Experience building and implementing social media tools
• Strong understanding of Web UI principles, patterns and processes, and knowledge of current technologies
• Proven ability to work closely with developers to cleanly implement UI and solve challenges across multiple browsers and environments
• Extensive experience with Adobe Photoshop, and the practices that ensure a smooth transition from design to implementation
• Ability to extend design concepts and styles for use in undefined areas
• Experience documenting style guides, design specifications and best practices
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Understanding of the impact design decisions have on implementation
• Familiar with popular social media tools, services and practices
• A passion for social media, user-generated content and innovation
Desired Skills and Experience
• Experience designing for high volume Web-based solutions that non-technical users interact with daily
• Experience working with client managers or directly with clients
• Experience in the publishing industry, marketing agencies or multi-national brands
• Experience creating wireframes or interface sketches
• Understanding of accessibility and SEO practices and experience designing with each in mind
• Familiarity with HTML and CSS
Portfolio
Our ideal candidate will have a highly creative portfolio showing a rich diversity of work ranging from Web application interfaces to Web site design for new and established brands. A portfolio must be included with your resume in order to be considered for this position.
You must be able to work a normal work week on-site in our Austin office.
