Hi all,

First, note that the data presented here is not reflective of the
parties - this is not scorecarded data and is no indication of the
figures that will be released next week. That said, the system for
displaying those data has to be tested, and I'd like your feedback.

Paul has put this together using Google's visualisation tools.

I'd like any feedback on how to make this immediately usable and
comprehensible. Should the charts be broken up more, displaying less
data at one time, or is it ok as it is?

Any other feedback?

Johnny

Thanks Johnny,

There are several areas which aren't yet complete (I'm still working on) but any feedback or suggestions are would be fantastic...

Also, feel free to play with the (random-ish) test data, but careful about major (structural) changes to the spreadsheet.

Thanks,

Paul

number 7. and still have the query about how to make it work for when the party has nothing for a category, you did say you score it out of 0-4 rather then 1-5. I know thats awkward but..

when you click on the bar chart and it turns to the comparison of the category it surprised me, its very good though, maybe the text should say Electoral - Party Comparison

some explanatory text for the remainder, eg they've could do better in  number of areas, they still have time.

if its all about points, could you put that into the y-axis' and in the text.

for the stacked chart > pie chart heading text could you put something like  Labour - Legislative 13 (out of 20)

I had more thoughts but considering the time crunch I'll keep them to myself

Thanks for the feedback,

All ideas I agree with (and working on)

It is crunch time but all feedback / thoughts very much appreciated...

I need to use the stacked chart to switch between parties. Is that by design?

Also is there a way to get a pie chart of topic X with all the parties
for comparison?

Also, given the number of independents running, can they be included
practically, or is it just too messy?

(FireFox 3.6.13 straight out of the download without any add-ons)

Thanks Will,

You can switch between parties either through the stacked (overview) chart, or by clicking on any topic bar (eg. click "Electoral" bar to see all parties electoral scores, then click any Party bar for party chart.
We could add other layout sections that always display all areas and parties guaranteeing a single click will get you what you want, but with space constraints we had to compromise...

On your second question. There is a bar chart for every area (topic) showing party comparison, which we felt was more meaningful than a pie broken down by party.

We did have a section for the "United Left Alliance" which transpired to be too difficult to score meaningfully, so we've dropped it for now.
Scoring independents would really have to be done individually and although that would be very interesting, it would require more resources than we have right now.

Cheers,

Paul

Hi - just joined the list and tbh, just took a look at the site. Looks
great, professional, easy to read. Personally, Id like to see the
party overview chart on the front page instead of or perhaps above the
carousel. For a floating or undecided voter who believes reform is
important, its a quick way to make an assessment.

I agree,

But I might be a bit biased...
