WANT TO REVERT TO THE OLD NETFLIX HERES HOW- if your like me (and pretty much everyone ive talked to you hate teh new netflix interface. why they literally screwed up everthing about it i dont know. but the good news is the old netflix app is still on your xbox and you can still use it.
STEP 1 hit the xbox button and goto the gams tab and select quickplay,then goto the al tab on the right and scroll down till you find the old netflix app (it should be a little white flim strip in th emiddle not the shiny red on at the top) select this now. you should get an error message but jsut click ok
STEP 2 now you should be at a netflix screen that tells you theres and error and you need to register netflix on this console and it should have the register code in the background covered by the error message.leave it on this screen and then
STEP 3 go online to your netflix account and click on the YOUR ACCOUNT & HELP link at the top rigth. it will bring you to the accpunt page scroll down a little bit and under the WATCHING INSTANTLY ON YOUR TV OR COMPUTER section click the MANAGE NETFLIX READY DEVICES AND COMPUTERS LINK. then click the disconnect device button and confirm
STEP 4 finally got back to your xbox (which should be on the netflix screen with the error message and the option to TRY AGAIN click this now and it shoudl remove the error mesage and show you the registration code enter this now on your computer and presto the Old (and much better) netflixs app.
you can use either app now without having to do all that stuff again but you can only access the old netflix app through the quickplay option. if you click on the netflix icon it will brign you to the new (and annoying) one. its so sad that we have to do this they shoudl simlpy give us the option of which we want to use but they would rather force the new on on us anyways ENJOY GUYS and thumbs up if you found this usefull
Regardless, absolute credit to Fleshpuppet for this info. I'm creating the thread that way people who don't like the new Netflix have an idea how to get their beloved previous version back. Unfortunately, no fix for the new Dashboard...probably won't be =/
However, if you were already on the old Netflix you can stay on it for as long as you wish to keep your Xbox console running...so at least you can get a few final moments with the old setup before wishing it farewell (unless you're one of the lucky few it doesn't corrupt for).
OH wll not 10 hours after i posted this they disabled it. WHY i ask you, do they care if i want to use their old interface. it wasnt hurting anythgin by allowing me to use the older (and far greater) program espically since its on my xbox still just sitting there on my harddrive. this is like cyber facisim. i dont like the new version and im not just shouting whiney non sese complaints but i had VALID reasons and it jsut a dick thign to do. so even though ive been and XBOX LIVE subscriber since the original xbox and even though i jsut puurchased an xbox kinect bundle for christmas. i will be returning it and canceling my subscription. turning off my auto renew and gettign a netflix box from netflix.com. i know they dont care and that to them it doesnt matter but i was a diehard xbox fanboy and now i hate the service. PLEASE i urge yo uto call 18004myxbox and let them know your displeasure and perhaps they will fix at least this but i doubt it.
Apple TV has been hooked up and playing fine for over a year and then suddenly today it won't "play" anything. I navigate to the show I want to watch on Netflix, Hulu+, PBS and hit play, it tries to load and does the spinning wheel graphic, then goes back to the screen with the play button. It also then shows a blank song icon in the lower left that says "untitled". Playing music through home sharing & iTunes radio does the same thing. It has connectivity to the apps because I can watch something on Netflix on another device & it shows up as played when I look again in AppleTV. Network test was fine and I've reset the router and done a factory reset on the AppleTV.
Have you tried restarting the Apple TV? Mine does this every so often and I have to restart it. I see all the menu's and such but when I select something all I get is the spinning wheel. Reminds me of the old days of OS 9. Only back then it was a pretty beach ball spinning.
I have to be blunt here. I used to really like the Apple TV when I first bought it. Now it just seems I have been having more issues with upgrades, connection with TV and with software not working. Luckily I have a Xbox 360 that has some of the same content available.
Which model of the Apple TV are you guys having these problems with? I have Apple TV model no. 3 and it got a little unstable for a while when I changed from Cable to Fibre Internet connection. Make sure that all of the cords are OK and also check after any new update for the device.
I don't know about this now, I'm only speculating, but for example when my old iPhone 4 got the latest iOS 7.12 the phone got incredibly slow and unresponsive and stuff, I later found out that the newest version of the OS didn't work for such old devices, so maybe, if you have like Apple TV model no. 1, it might be something similar, also keep in mind that the processor is slower in the different models.
Also, I had Netflix until some month ago and it kinda Screwed up several times a day, couldn't watch a complete movie before something happened, the picture froze, got all blue screen, huge pixels who never changed, and if it was subtitles they were all out of order and was delayed or too fast, etc. Netflix could also be the problem itself.
The problem, it seems, was that some past connections for AirPlay and Home Sharing were 'sticking', leaving some kind of socket open with no label or content. it showed in the little AirPlay status window as "Unkown: Radio Connection".
Having this problem too. (Apple TV FD199LL/A) I restarted the ATV, updated software, now 6.2, and pulled plug to restart. Tried forgetting network and reconnecting. I get 2.5+ ms. Same results: Netflix, trailers, video does as far as selection but only returns to selection when I press play.
I had this same issue and restarted apple tv several times with no change. I decided to restart the mac in my house with itunes running (even though it was affecting apple programs, netflix and local shows) and once that was back up restarted the apple tv. After that it worked properly.
I had the same problem, Netflix videos wouldn't play, screen would just go blank, itunes "untitled" icon would show, and it would just drop back to the netflix movie info screen. Also tried previewing iTunes music videos, it would play for a split second, then quit.
Turning off the wifi on my macbook solved it. I suspect its a problem caused by Airplay (I had used airplay remote desktop earlier, and even though the Apple TV was restarted, airplay from the macbook must have still been interfering).

I am thinking about getting an xbox, but have a few questions before I do... Does anyone know if the Xbox live connects without issues here in Doha and if so, can you stream netflix through it? Believe it or not, that is a major reason for me to get it..
And finally.. regarding the power, does anyone have the 120V xbox and do they have any issues about using it here through a converter? I want to do that instead of buying a 240V xbox (same price as the 120V at virgin megastore at Vilaggio) but I have concerns since I heard xbox has issues with failure due to overheating etc, so wondering if the converter makes any of that worse.
@Sardines40 check your xbox live connection and see if the NAT type is strict or openfrom the dashboard, select wifi/internet connection and test xbox live..it will tell you if your NAT type is OPEN or STRICT..you wont find any gamers or find very few gamers in STRICT mode
If u make sure u r running the latest mod on the console then you r secure. If you update your console dashboard without running the latest mod then the console gets flagged(marked for ban) and gradually gets banned.
or Hulu that are region restricted ,US only sites, you need to access the internet via a US based proxy that assigns your PC a US based I.P address.Si Its as if you are sitting in the US. I'm not a techie but have been trying to figure out how best to access Netflix.Apparenly there are internet based ISP companies that provide proxy access via VPN for a annual fee ( $87 at one place) which isnt too bad. You still a fast connection. THe only thing is your connection is been routed via a VPN tunnel (correct me if I'm wrong here) and isnt supposed to impact bandwidth negatively ( atleast not too much anyways..)Hope this helps. BTW - I just picked up both the Xbox 4gb Kinect and the Wii here in the US and realized the power brick issue. I will be able to get one in Qatar that has the local pin/connector right ? Let a brother know.
