hey guys,
some updates and questions about travel in dumfries:
19th: poets (some of them) picked up by Godfrey and myself in Glasgow (others making their own way there). CONFIRMED.
22nd: musicians driven by mike from edinburgh to dumfries, mike being put up by someone in dumfries. CONFIRMED.
22nd: poets travel from bakehouse to dumfries station - TO BE DISCUSSED below....
So I asked Godfrey if he would be able to take the poets to the station that day and it seems he won't have enough room in his van for all 10 people (plus luggage!). he recommended we try and hire a bus (and driver) from the catstrand community arts centre in dumfries. (
http://www.catstrand.com/). they look cool and so I checked them out. Turns out you have to be registered as a user group to be able to hire the bus. Seems like a bit of a faff but it would be a one off payment of £20 and then we could use them forever and ever (IF we want to continue doing stuff around there that is!). The guy I was chatting to is going to send me an email shortly with bus availability and then costs so we'll have a better idea of what we're playing with (it may not even be worth it!) but I thought I'd scope out feelings towards this in the meantime. If the hire costs are decent should we go ahead and register? Doesn't seem too tricky. Otherwise we would have to battle with the buses with all the luggage which I'm not sure would be too easy...
thoughts?
