Hi all,

So for those of you who haven't yet heard the bad news, Hanam's are not
going to be catering for us on the Sunday for the panel event/reading.
The amount they tried to charge us was frankly a joke, so we told them
to get lost.

Which means we don't have any catering yet for that day! We need to find
someone - and they have to have all the necessary licenses,
environmental health certificates and be able to do risk assessment...
We have Summerhall to thank for all that faff.

Ideas at the moment are Osman (Lauren, have you contacted him yet?) and
Mosque Kitchen. Any more ideas on this? Anyone able to ask Mosque
Kitchen? I'm backed up with other work right now, as I'm sure you all
are too... Thought it was worth an ask though...

So I just got off the phone to Osman from Empires. He is very keen for helping us out with this and promises to give us a little extra (same situation we had before, but he is very legit and I'm sure will do us a good deal!). He asked what our budget was per head, I wasn't sure what to say. I ended up dividing 170 (our rough budget for food) by 60 and came up with just less than £3 per head. seems kind of small.

shall we say £3.50 per head? That comes to £210. We do have 250 set aside for this...

Yah?

I was just thinking about this. Thanks for the update:) I would say that's good. £3 is very little. £4 is reasonable. £3.50 is a friend deal. So hopefully he'll be happy with that... Osman is really lovely, so I'll be very glad if we go with him.

We could always cater for 50 rather than 60 if you think money will be tight (with getting juices, etc, on top). 60 might be ambitious for a panel discussion? Don't know.

Either way, great that progress being made! Thanks, Lauren.

let's say £3.50 for 55-60 and he may or may not add more. it is a bit ambitious for a panel discussion but we may also get the earlies for the next event. i don't know, maybe it is too much. extra food is always useful though, we can take it to stirling!

why didn't we go with osman in the first place? silly us. x

sounds good!
but yes 60 at a panel would be an amazing turnout, usually its much less... at least in the good old burgh
but food will be eaten anyways!
