Hi there.

I had a great meeting with Caroline yesterday, our volunteer who will be
coming to Edinburgh from St. Andrews for the duration of the festival.
She's extremely lovely. I was wrong, she's not Canadian. She's American.
Whoops! (NB: This fact is entirely unrelated to the statement about her
being lovely).

I mentioned to her that it might be good to have her 'bottom-lining'
event evaluation during the festival. This gives her the chance to feel
she's responsible for something, rather than just being a general
dogsbody/runner. It will also be good for us to have one person who
collates the forms/makes sure we get 'vox pops' off people/encourages
them to tweet, while we will all have other things to be worrying about,
I'm sure. We will all be doing a bit of this, but it's nice to know
someone's making certain it's covered, as it's so important to Reel
Fests in the long run... I thought that she could also pass on some key
quotes from forms gathered each day and make sure they're tweeted/passed
on to Duncan for hyping up, etc. What do you think to that? She seemed
perfectly happy with the idea.

I've put her down for a few Edinburgh events on the Events Task Doc.
Looking at it, however, I am wondering whether at times it might be more
useful for us to send her over to Glasgow? E.g. on the Saturday eve in
Edinburgh there isn't much to help with/evaluate. (I could probably do
the cinema on my own that night as there's no Q&A). There are a LOT of
question marks beside the Glasgow tasks, and although Henry has seemed
confident about finding help when I've spoken to him, I can't help but
wonder if she'd be a little wasted with us all day on Saturday, when she
could help out at the film screening & gig over there.
Again, what do you think?

She's excited to come to Golden Hour on 25th, and I thought that could
be a good treat for her since she's going to be giving us her time 24/7
during the fest... Can't remember if you said that there was room left
in the van going across to Stirling or not?

Could she be added to this email group? Who can do that?

And finally - I thought it might be good to schedule in a brief vollie
meet-up on 20th. So everyone knows who everyone is, and we feel more
like a team... and can go over any final questions/make sure everything
is covered before it's GO GO GO. When could people do that day?

Firstly, thanks Yaz for organising all this, and thanks so much to Caroline for being such a great help. Looking forward to welcoming her aboard! :)

re. bottom-lining evaluation - YES. that would be really perfect! and I like the idea of her passing juicy bits to the rest of the world. I trust there will be many.

re. her going over to Glasgow, I think that would make most sense. Does that sound good to you Henry? I'm aware there's quite a lot to do over there on the saturday and it would be nice to have more of 'us' there! Would she stay over d'you think, or catch the last train back?

re. be nice to have her coming to stirling! there is one seat on the way there but none left on the way back. we will work something out I'm sure....I'm sure some of us will be drunk enough for us not to notice someone sitting on their lap...

re. email list: absolutely! I'll add her now. though I'm not sure if I have her email address. I'll go digging but if anyone could send it that would be useful....

re. meet-up on the 20th, I won't be there (I'll be in Dumfries) but feel free to do it then anyway. Or on the morning of the 19th? 18th preferably?

I'll talk to her about going to Glasgow then and see if she's up for it. I don't think Henry checks this. I'll FB him.

If she does come on the 19th, I would only be able to meet early afternoon at the latest as I am due to be meeting the poets in Glasgow that evening. but aye, it could be good to all meet!

Hi guys,

She would be very welcome to stay with us but have been holding back suggesting that because 1. we stay is South Queensferry which means bus/train to and fro from city centre, and the last train is sometime like 11:30 and am imagining she would be out gallivanting later than that  2. we have three wee kids = much mess and noise and 3. she would be staying in a loft, albeit a very charming and soundproofed one, unless she wants the sofabed and 6am wakeups...

Happy to be a backup option though! We do have good coffee and lots of laughs.
