Hey guys!

All looking good for the wine then. The invoice attached is not quite the real thing but he promises me it will be £150 for what we agreed. Very sweet of them to wave the deposit for us.

What do we think about the choice of wines? (I'm aware this could be a hard one to decide quickly between us!). They are all the same price apparently. I would personally go for:

'Ca'di Ponti Nero d'Avola' and 'Ancora Blanco'.

What say you all?

x

Hi Lauren,

Sorry I haven't got back to you sooner, but rugby weekends are always chaotic in here!
I've had a look at our wines and have a few for you to choose from;

REDS

Cuvee Jean-Paul Rouge - A medium bodied red from the Rhone Valley, this stunning wine is a blend of Grenache and Syrah.
So expect abundance of soft, juicy fruit flavours and a touch of spice.

Ancora Rosso - This Sangiovese from Puglia, Italy is soft and fruity and packed with red berry flavours.
An excellent day-time red.

Settesoli Shiraz-Viognier - A well-rounded and easy drinking Sicilian wine with the juicy/spicy characteristics of Shiraz, softened further still by the white Viognier grape adding tropical fruitiness.

Ca'di Ponti Nero d'Avola - A much loved Sicilian classic.   Think black cherries, plums, spice and a hint of smokiness.

Stonewalker Cabernet Sauvignon (Limited supply) - This great wee South African red really punches above its weight.   Full bodied with dark fruit flavours and soft, rounded tannins.   A joy to behold!

WHITES

Cuvee Jean-Paul Blanc - A blend of Colombard and Ugni Blanc, this wine is slightly on the sweeter side but with a zesty, lively finish.

Ancora Blanco - This Garganega grape wine is dry and crisp with ripe green apple flavours and plenty of lemon zest.

Unfortunately, we are really low on whites in this price region at the moment, but as more arrive later in the week, I will send you an update!
I can't do a proper invoice for you until you have decided on the wines, but I've attached a fake template one with prices etc on it.
We normally charge a deposit on glass hire of £2 per glass, however, I've waved this due to the fact that you're a charity.   Any damages or missing glasses will be charged at this rate though and they need to be returned clean before the 25th of March as we have another event coming up.

If you need anything else in the meantime, please shout!

Thank you,

Ciaran

Hi Ciaran,

Good chatting to you about this earlier, thanks for all your help.

So to confirm, we would like to order 30 bottles of wine (20 red and 10 white) and 120-150 glasses for 21st March for the Reel Iraq Festival Opening Night. This would be delivered to:

The Forest, 141 Lauriston Place, Edinburgh, EH3 9JN

If you could send an invoice to this email address, that would be great. We can chat about which wines we'd like when we get a few more details.

Many thanks for all your help!
Lauren

I'm a cab-sauv gal, but the red you prefer is from less far away, so eco-me says we go with that.
All white wine is equally horrid.

So I'm afraid to say that I DID go with the Ca'di Ponti Nero d'Avola in the end as the eco thing won it for me too. I'm sure we could always get in an extra bottle of cab-sauv from somewhere, just for you Yaz.

The glasses come free with the order but it will be £2 for any damaged or lost glass so...

They will need to be washed and returned to the place (I think it's on broughton street) by 25th march. Emma at the Forest has kindly agreed to help us wash them up, (though maybe we can provide some people to help out?) but once again we may need to rely on the generosity of our drivers. would that be alright?? Or we could bung them (carefully!) in a taxi?

Hey guys,

Another little follow-up with the wine for the opening night:

- it is £1 per broken/lost glass not £2. Phew.
- they CAN pick up the glassess the next day and clean but charge £5 per dozen for the service (they have to hire s.o to do it)
- if not we will need s.o to be able to drive them back if poss and a get team of glass washers to help the forest...

whatta we say?

I'd say we can clean them ourselves and drive them back but it IS just another thing(s) to do...

thoughts?

If 'by 25th March' is inclusive of that day then I could do this in the morning before we head over to Stirling for Golden Hour. x

It would be around £60 otherwise, right? Seems like a lot... It is one extra thing to do, and I may kick myself later for having offered - but I am offering!

I agree it's a lot, all these little things are adding up and I think there are some we should say no to.

I'll check we can do it on the 25th (shame we can't do it on the way to stirling? no. no.) but that's a pretty fine offer of yours Yaz, thanks!

I might also very stupidly try and chip in a bit of washing up on the 22nd morning. MAYBE.

or shall we stop making life too hard for ourselves and just pay for it?? any other thoughts?

Can we offer the Forest a tenner to clean them and box them?

Yeah i thinly we should. Emma is coming in early especially and i was hoping to get at least one volunteer to help her. Il find out on Tuesday. But yes lets pay them something and get them to get it done.

And if the worst comes to the worst we get them in a taxi on the Monday morning. Cool. X
