Welcome to REEL 2e - a group for San Mateo and Santa Clara County parents where we can ask questions, share resources, discuss advocating for our 2e kids in school, and support one another.

A few ground rules:

2) PLEASE KEEP EVERYTHING SHARED IN THIS GROUP 100% CONFIDENTIAL.

3) To post to the group, you can:

- You can also log into Google Groups at https://groups.google.com/g/reel-2e and click the "+ new conversation" button on the upper left. Logging in also allows you to browse old posts.

- If you'd like to ask an anonymous question or give an anonymous answer, please email teresa@reel2e.org, hello@reel2e.org, or another member of the REEL team, and we can post it for you. If you receive direct replies, please summarize all of the replies (anonymously) to the group so we can all learn from them.

4) Please, no self-promotion. If you are offering a service for our 2e families or our community, please get in touch with us directly with information about your service. REEL sends out a Community Promotions email monthly to help streamline service information and draw attention to services available to our community and families. Feel free to search our Google Group archives for resources and information. If you can't find what you're looking for, you are welcome to post to the group to...

-Find resources and ask for feedback on finding therapists, social groups, summer camps, after-school classes, etc

-Find others with similar situations to talk to or create your own affinity group

-Receive support for a situation you're struggling with

-Share a win - no matter how small - or a resource you recommend

-Learn anything else related to raising 2e kiddos!

If you’re new to REEL, a great place to start is by exploring our Events—they’re a popular and meaningful way to learn and connect. Upcoming events are listed on our website, and past event recordings are available both on our website and on our YouTube channel. These free resources feature expert speakers sharing insights through a 2e- and neurodivergent-affirming lens on topics such as anxiety, writing solutions, reducing power struggles, slow processing speed, social skills, and more. We also offer services such as our small group discussions and 1:1 consultations for more personalized and in-depth support.

In addition, you’ll find other helpful resources on our website, including an Intro to 2e Fact Sheet to share with educators and the REEL Parents Guide to IEPs for Twice-Exceptional Students – CA Bay Area Edition. REEL also provides professional development workshops and resources for schools and educators—if you think your child’s school could benefit, please consider introducing us!

Since this group began, we have loved seeing the support our community members provide to one another. We continue to learn so much from you and look forward to sharing this journey together!
