ImportantDeleting photos and videos from the Google Photos app deletes the same items from your device. If these items are backed up, the same content will be deleted on all devices with backup turned on. Learn how to remove backed up photos & videos from Google Photos but not your device.
Delete selected photos and videos in Days view: Press the Delete key, then click the Delete button that appears. The selected items are deleted from your library and placed in the Recently Deleted album.
Delete photos and videos and then permanently remove them from the Recently Deleted album: Press Command-Delete, then open the Recently Deleted album. (If the Recently Deleted album is locked, use Touch ID or enter your password to unlock it.) Select the items you want to delete permanently, click Delete, then click OK.
When you plug your iPhone into a Windows 10 PC with a USB cable, the Photos app should automatically launch. If not, you can search for it in the Start menu. The import button is at the top-right of the Photos window, and when you click it, a pop-up will appear where you can select which photos to import.
The Recently Deleted folder is contained in the Albums tab of Photos. Go to the main Albums menu and scroll down to Other Albums; Recently Deleted will be at the bottom of the menu. Tap Select and you can then select the photos you want deleted or recovered, or press the Delete All or Recover All buttons at the bottom of the screen to do it all at once.
You could also use another native macOS app, Image Capture, to delete every photo from your iPhone. The process is roughly the same as with Photos. Plug your iPhone into your Mac, open Image Capture, select all photos, and hit the delete icon. This will permanently delete all photos from your device.
On Windows PC, plug your iPhone in and find it under devices in Windows Explorer. Within the iPhone folder will be Internal Storage; open that, and then open the DCIM folder within that. This folder will contain all of the photos on your iPhone. Just select which photos you want to delete, or press Ctrl + A to select all of them, and then right click and select delete, or press Shift + Del.
I recently upgraded to a new MacBook Pro with the M1 Chip and Big Sur. I can't delete photos from the photo app. Every time I select a photo or series of photos and delete, it goes through the process but doesn't delete the photo (and no "recently deleted" folder is visible). The photo still show in the library and my photo stream. No photos imported from my iPhone or iPad (all running the latest iOS software) can be deleted from my Mac. Even photos I deleted from my devices show up on my Mac and can't be deleted. I reinstalled MacOS, restarted my computer in Safe Mode, and repaired the photos library. Nothing worked. I don't know if there's a problem with the Photos app or if photos imported from my iPhone and iPad can't be deleted on my Mac but this is going to be a problem down the line. I contacted Apple for support and they can't seem to figure out what's going on. I don't know f this a glitch in the system or what but I need help.
Have a look at Photos Help (choose Help from within the Photos App), search for "delete." Deleting images is more complicated than it used to be, note that in some instances COMMAND-Delete is what you need, not just the Delete key:
The truth is, most images are not that valuable. There are lots of similar files or duplicates, and many pictures only need to be looked at once. Plus, images take a lot of space on your Mac and processing them is taxing on your system. So why keep them?
Disk Drill is one of the most powerful apps available for macOS that can recover any deleted files with ease, regardless of the loss cause. Just launch the app and scan your hard drive for any recently lost files. Get all the files back or select just the ones you need.
Disk Drill features a powerful backup feature for byte-to-byte mirror images of your hard drive. Never again will you lose any files. And if you ever delete photos from MacBook, reviving them would just be as easy as clicking a single button.
As you can see, knowing how to delete photos on Mac allows you to keep your hard drive tidy and optimized. Especially when you use an automated solution to find duplicate files like Gemini. More importantly, is to also have a backup and recovery plan, both of which are easily covered by Disk Drill.

When you take a picture, it takes up some of your phone's storage space indeed. However, if you upload the content into your Dropbox, and then delete it off of your camera roll, then the picture would only take up some of your Dropbox storage.
Paint over the unwanted objects of your image and let Photoroom work its magic. Once you selected the object with the brush tool, it is automatically removed from the photo as if it was never there. Use it to erase any unwanted content, such as people, small objects, watermarks or text.
For example, when using images for various purposes like advertisements, presentations, or publications, it may be necessary to remove copyrighted watermarks, text overlays, or logos to comply with legal requirements or maintain a consistent visual theme.
Signing up to Photoroom is for free, and you are able to remove any object or person from your image for free. If you want to use other great features from Photoroom such as the AI Background Generator or want to delete the Photoroom watermark - then it is useful to become a Pro User.
One objective could be to enhance your visual aesthetics. Sometimes, certain objects or people in an image can distract from the main subject or overall composition. By removing them, you can create a cleaner and more visually pleasing image. The second use case to cleaning up a picture is photo retouching: In portrait photography, removing imperfections or distractions like blemishes, wrinkles, or stray hairs can help enhance the subject's appearance and create a more polished image. The last one to mention, is the object isolation: If you want to isolate a specific object or subject in an image, removing other elements can help draw attention solely to the intended focal point. This can be particularly useful in product photography or creating visual graphics.
When I delete a picture from Photos. Photos then puts the picture in a trash bin that is hidden in the File button on the task bar - "Show Recently Deleted". When you select this it then shows all of your deleted pictures you selected in Photos. If you then select to "Delete All" it asks you again are your sure and you click ok. Photos then cannot see these photos. BUT IT DID NOT DELETE THEM FROM YOUR MAC!
I then opened iPhoto, found the photos that I deleted inside the Photos app and viola they are still there, (these are not thumbnails!) these are the exact picture. HOW DO YOU VERIFY? In iPhoto if you select the picture then go to File - "Reveal in Finder" it will show that the picture you THOUGHT you deleted in Photos, is still there in the Master folder in your library!!
FYI there is no way in Photos to find the file location, very sneaky because the app is not deleting these files. This very frustrating coming from Apple who is pushing thinner profiles so SSD's with very limited storage, to give you the assumption that you are actually deleting these photos and videos when in fact you are not.
