subnet needed for load testing with small instance sizes?

Hi. 
I recently signed up for the free package of load testing.
When I specify one of the three smallest sizes, it says "The server size you selected requires a subnet."
It works correctly with the free RedLine13 servers, and it works correctly when I use reserved instances of type m3.medium

I didn't see anything in the load testing documentation that refers to subnets.
Am I supposed to create a subnet before I do my load testing?  Why is a subnet necessary for those sizes?
Right now I just have the plain-old-regular AWS default subnet.

Hi,

The t2 instances are required by Amazon to be in a VPC: http://docs.aws.amazon.com/AWSEC2/latest/UserGuide/t2-instances.html#t2-instances-vpc-support.  So you need to set up a VPC and subnet in EC2.  You need to be sure that you can access the internet from these instances.  There are two options:

1.  Set up a NAT instance that handles all traffic in the subnet.

2.  Set up an internet gateway for the subnet in EC2.  When starting instances, check the “Associate Public IP Address” checkbox.

#2 is the simplest approach.
