Hi everyone.

First time posting here. I have been a redis user a for a while. Today I decided to try update from 3.0.6 to 3.2.6 on our Ubuntu server but I seem to of run into some problems. Below are the steps I followed.

1. Download lastest redis version from redis.io
2. Extract Redis
3. Take redis service offline
4. Make redis
5. Run "make test" - Comes back successful
6. Run "make install" - Gives me a couple lines of output saying I should run make test and and says
install install
install install
install install
install install
It then exits after that.
7. Bring redis service back up
8. Check redis server version in redis-cli and see its still 3.0.6

Note: I do have tcl installed and have attached the results of make install and make test for reference.

I am sure I am missing something silly, if anyone could please advise what I did wrong that would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your help.

also, can you mention how are you starting the server? have you installed it as a service, if yes how did you install it?
If you stop your server, and then do "/root/redis-3.2.6/src/redis-cli /root/redis-3.2.6/redis.conf" to start the server and then do "/root/redis-3.2.6/src/redis-cli info", it should show 3.2.6.

It is installed as a service so to stop it

sudo service redis-server stop
and to start it
sudo service redis-server start
It is installed in /etc/redis/
I get the feeling that is my problem...

Are you sure your existing Redis was installed with the same steps you are following here?  I.e., compiling it and using 'make install'?  Your existing Redis was NOT installed from a package?
