question about shutdown reids-server

just start server like      ./redis-server ../redis.config

i just want to close reids-server normally,dont want to use kill -9 which is rude

but when i type ./redis-cli shutdown

then output  

                    (error) ERR Errors trying to SHUTDOWN. Check logs.

but  find  the log anywhere
