Hi Group,

I'm writing here to get clarified on Redis Licensing terms for commercial purpose. We're planning to setup Redis for implementing Caching & Messaging queue in our production server.

Setup Details:
1. Windows Server
2. Redis 2.8.2102 (GitHub - MSOpentech)
3. ServiceStack.Redis (C#.Net)

Does any of the above mentioned components requires purchase of commercial license to be deployed in Production Server?!

If yes, could you please suggest me alternatives?!

Regards,
Sreeram

Windows does. About the others, go on their pages and see their license.

Windows Server requires a license.

License for MS Open Tech is free, license is at: https://github.com/MSOpenTech/redis/blob/2.8/license.txt

The earlier v3 ServiceStack.Redis is BSD and free of restrictions, available from: https://github.com/ServiceStackV3/ServiceStackV3
The latest v4 is a commercial release with free-quotas (https://servicestack.net/download#free-quotas), StackExchange.Redis is a popular free alternative.

Yes, I already went through license terms for Redis 2.8.2102 & ServiceStack.Redis but I want to get it confirmed from someone who has already deployed in Production.

What is there to confirm? The license terms are clear, and no number of "I installed it and no one has sued me" will do you any good if there is a legal issue.

We are not your lawyer. If you want more authoritative advice that your own
analysis, you'll need to consult with a lawyer, not a mailing list.

Sreeram,

Your ignorance regarding software licensing and community participation astounds me.

Welcome to a killfile.
