Hi all:

Recently my team need to speedup the process of transporting data(copy data in fact) between master/slave, which mostly will use `slaveof`(and a full-SYNC) command in redis. We've found that diskless replication may save a lot of time according to our test-cases, while we also know that it is experimental currently. So I'd like to know more about it, with some questions:

1. what's the latest status of diskless replication?
2. what's the main problem with it so far?
3. what's the plan for it?

thanks.

Hi,

I'm bumping this old thread up.
Is there any news about the state of diskless replication?

Thanks,

Regards,

RS

Hi,

As RS queried above, even i would like to know the latest development/current issues with diskless replication. It will be helpful if someone from redislabs/the redis community can let us know the same. We intend to  use the latest redis version 5.0.5 or 5.0.3

Thanks in advance.

-Sairam.

Hello, diskless replication is no longer experimental. Cheers.

That's Great Salvatore..

That means we can proceed using diskless replication in production, hope that should be fine right !?

My 2 cents: my employer, Redis Labs, has been using diskless replication in production for ages ;)

Cheers,

I've seen that the warning about diskless replication being experimental was removed in the unstable branch. Does this imply that diskless replication is production ready for all currently maintained versions? (Redis 4 and greater?)
