Recently JCache final revision was released 1.0.0, created as a proposed standard for Caching Abstractions: https://jcp.org/en/jsr/detail?id=107

Any idea is there is an implementation for Redis around or coming up? has anyone looked into using JCache?

Meet the Redisson framework (http://redisson.org) it implements JCache API (JSR-107)
