Hi people!

I'm a newbie to Redis. I just found this post
(only tech data, no problem ;-)

I read
"Software-wise, most large porn sites will use a very-high-throughput database such as Redis to store and serve videos"

Hmmm... Is it possible? STORE AND SERVE videos with Redis? My guess: they are using a CDN, redis only has the links, minimal info of videos, their storage is not IN redis.

Any enlightment?

TIA

Hi,

of course Redis is not used to serve videos at pornhub, but just to
store video meta-data, sortings, and so forth.

Cheers,
Salvatore

Hello Angel

Here's Nick, I'm in charge of PornHub. We're using Redis to store metadata, viewcounts and some "relational" info that we need to set/get really fast. Our videos are coming from token-protected CDNs provided by 2 different companies, and they have absolutely nothing to do with Redis.

Actually the CDNs are using MemCache for some of their features, they could use Redis but it's not the case.

Best!
