Liquid fuel for gasoline stoves and multifuel stoves. It is a blend of petroleum spirits that burns very cleanly and is more powerful than conventional liquid fuels such as kerosene, Diesel, or pure gasoline. It performs excellently in cold conditions. Size 1 liter (33.8 oz).
Forecasts for the energy storage market are disparate, optimistic, and mostly guesswork. Pike Research says the market will be $35 billion in 2020; Piper Jaffray says $200 billion by 2020. David Hawkins of CAISO has been quoted as saying, "I can't see how it's possible to get to 33 percent [renewable power penetration] without significant energy storage resources on the grid."
On their website, they say "At temperatures of +15C and above a conventional gas blend will overpower most stoves making them less efficient, resulting in higher fuel consumption than needed. Primus Summer Gas is optimized for summer conditions"
Primus Winter gas appears to contain only propane and iso-butane, I don't know the % yet but I'd guess that it will be similar to Jetboil. That alone would give the claimed increase in 'power' after 60 and 120 minutes use. The "down to -22C" claim could be true, but only for the first few minutes use. As the propane get used up the min temp will rise to be above the boiling point of iso-butane (-11C).
Summer Gas is a mixture of propane and butane and is optimised for summer conditions with temperatures between 15 C and 40 C. At really hot temperatures, other gas mixtures may be too powerful, meaning reduced efficiency and increased fuel consumption. There is no such risk with this gas mixture.
We developed Winter Gas to increase the performance of gas stoves at lower temperatures. Low temperatures reduce the pressure in the gas tank and worsen the evaporation of the liquid gas. This causes the stove to burn with less power or not at all, even though there may be gas left in the container.
Though wise and powerful beyond measure, Primus is neither infallible nor without weakness.
