More than 14,500 students have completed the initial version of this course. The new release features a more engaging presentation style and more prominently features the OpenShift Container Platform. Deploying Containerized Applications Technical Overview Anticipated Sales This zero cost course is an entry way into the expanding OpenShift Developer and OpenShift Administrator learning paths. Software Version OpenShift Container Platform 3.5, latest version Length 2 Hours (10 total videos) Delivery Mode This video course is delivered at no cost through the Red Hat public website. Market Opportunity The average five-year ROI is 531% for an organization’s investment in Red Hat OpenShift, according to an IDC study - https://www.redhat.com/cms/managed-files/cl-business-value-of-red-hat-openshift-analyst-paper-inc0461277lw-201611-en.pdf OpenShift caters to the growing market for containers and container management. One analyst even predicted that the container market would grow 40% per year for the next four years. OpenShift Container Platform enables rapid application development, deployment, and scaling for organizations moving to a DevOps model. It leverages industry standard Docker containers and Kubernetes, allowing orchestration of complex applications across multiple containers. OpenShift can be deployed into public clouds such as AWS or into an enterprise data center. Customers exploring OpenShift can also use the free online platform. Given the explosive growth in OpenShift, increasingly the entire Red Hat portfolio (EAP, Fuse, CloudForms, etc) is being optimized to work with the platform. As the demand for OpenShift, containers, and Kubernetes grows, the need for trained professionals will grow with it. Red Hat Training has used this data to re-imagine how we’re bringing the OpenShift curriculum to market. To start, Red Hat Training has updated a no-cost entry point to the OpenShift learning path. Deploying Containerized Applications Technical Overview (DO080) runs under Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform 3.5 and is immediately available on redhat.com. Elements of the Course This course introduces the student to container and container orchestration technologies using Docker, Kubernetes, and Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform 3.5. Through a series of videos, the student observes demonstrations of how to containerize applications and deploy them on a Kubernetes cluster using Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform. The course has been updated in the following ways: The previous course positioned both OpenShift and standalone Kubernetes as deployment options. This new course aligns with the official supported strategy to use OpenShift as a Kubernetes solution. The videos introduce Zachary Gutterman, a Red Hat Training content architect, who contributes a fresh and dynamic delivery of the content. This course has been updated from OpenShift 3.0 to 3.5. Red Hat Technical Overviews The Red Hat Training technical overview series provides an on-ramp for students to experience not only the technology being discussed but the level of quality of Red Hat Training offerings. For each student who registers for the course, a sales lead is generated so that we may offer the student the opportunity to continue their studies with our paid OpenShift development and administration learning paths. To date, technical overviews have generated 72,256 leads. Red Hat OpenShift Training Roadmap This is the second OpenShift release in the past two months, reflecting a commitment to build out an extensive, best of class portfolio in FY18. Red Hat Training is building two learning paths: one around OpenShift administration, the other around OpenShift development, that includes: Administration track: Deploying Containerized Applications Technical Overview (DO080) Introduction to Containers, Kubernetes and OpenShift (DO180) Red Hat OpenShift Administration I (DO280) Development track: Deploying Containerized Applications Technical Overview (DO080) Introduction to Containers, Kubernetes and OpenShift (DO180) Red Hat OpenShift Enterprise Development (DO290) Introduction to Containers, Kubernetes and Red Hat OpenShift (DO180) is a more in-depth presentation of container concepts and their application. Most customers should take this course before DO280 - historically customers often lack the foundational understanding of containers and Kubernetes needed to be successful. Red Hat OpenShift Administration I (DO280) is a 3-day course, recently updated for OCP 3.4, that provides the core skills required to deploy and manage the OpenShift platform. In Q2, the course will be 1) updated to OCP 3.5, 2) with more hands on labs, and 3) introduce new capabilities from versions 3.1 through 3.5.
