Hi!

I am having a Seagate SATA HDD,i tried to install RHEL#3, but i get the
error
"Hard disk Drive not found". i realized that there is no device driver
support for SATA. Where can i get those device drivers for linux?
Especially at which site can i download those drives? Please Help...

Hi,

As much as I know RHEL3 has support for SATA drives... although it
takes it as SCSI like /sda/ not hda. I tried it on Samsung and one of
my other friend also has got it installed on some other brand of SATA
drive....

There is just one problem known to me that the smartd doesn't work on
SATA as yet.....

I guess your problem Hard disk drive not found is not because of
SATA...how are you installing...can you give more details..???

Thanks
Sandeep

Hi Venkatesh

The problem you are facing is becuase the RHEL3 has a linux kernal
version of 2.4.<something>....which don't support SATA....to support
SATA you need kernel version of 2.6.<>.

Try Fedora Core 2 or 3.......
