Can't connect by telnet after installation of RH7.1 with server profile

Dear all,

after I logon to the installed server in console:

[root@localhost] telnet localhost
[root@localhost] telnet: Unable to connect to remote host: Connection
refused.

When I try to run in.telnetd diectory
[root@localhost] in.telnetd
[root@localhost] in.telnetd: getpeername: Socket operation on non-socket

I test the e-mail server (sendmail) by the command telnet localhost smtp
the reflect is positive but when I use another Win98 with Outlook Express
and set the outgoing server to the certain linux host. There is also
refused.

why ? and how ?

Have you checked your firewall-setup?
Try running "setup", there you will find a setup-menu for your firewall.
