Hello,

My name is Arvind and I am pursuing my bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Engineering. I would like to propose a new idea for GSoC. Here is a brief description about the idea.

Project title Login Page Media Controller
Synopsis: The basic idea is to implement a media controller that allows a user to control the currently running music player even when the screen is locked.
Deliverables: A working media player controller that is displayed at all times-a one stop controller. An API that can be used to build interesting applications around music players without the need to interface with DBus directly-API would make porting to other desktop environments much easier in a way(optional; debatable)
Project details: The controller basically works using the DBus interface-most modern media players have implemented a DBus interface. Ideally I would like to implement an API sort of interface that allows the application to simply access the media without actually knowing the active player. The API also allows enables more developers to develop interesting applications around it too.
Project schedule: I've not really thought about how long exactly because I'm unsure of the exact GUI work involved-need a bit of help here. In two to three weeks time, I guess all the non-GUI work could be done-depending on which all players need to be supported, which I think should be discussed with a developer perhaps?
