Hello,

On March 31st and April 1st, CareNet research group organizes the workshop "Contested Futures: Unsettling Ageing, Ecological and Digital Transitions", which aims to critically explore the production of futures in three different areas, all heavily influenced by anticipatory practices: ageing, disasters, and digitalization.

We have invited four researchers who are working on the production of futures as a methodological, ethical-political, and empirical problem in some of these areas.

On March 31st, from 10:00 to 13:45, they will present their latest work:
  • Helen Manchester (University of Bristol, UK): “Communities at the Margins: temporalities and sociodigital futures-in-the-making”
  • Judith Igelsböck (Universitat Oberta de Catalunya): "A Twin Future: Explorations on Interactive Storytelling"
  • Uriel Fogué (Universidad Politécnica de Madrid): “Futures: still remains”
  • Alex Wilkie (University of London, UK): “Energy Probes: Speculative Co-Design with More-than-Human Communities”

On April 1st, from 9:00 to 13:20, we will have a hands-on workshop on methods. This will have:
  • A showcase of future-making methods and future analysis led by Helen Manchester (Bristol University, UK), Alex Wilkie (Goldsmiths College, University of London, UK), Rachel Palmer (GENTIC, UOC), Maria Heras (TURBA, UOC), Andreu Belsunces (CNSC, UOC), and Toni Roig & Elisenda Ardèvol (Mediaccions, UOC).
  • A collaborative session to design new methods, foster academic exchanges between groups and researchers, and critically analyze future-making methods in social sciences and humanities.
The workshop will occur on March 31st and April 1st in room C0.6 of the Interdisciplinary Research and Innovation Hub at UOC (Rambla del Poblenou 154, 08018 Barcelona).

If you would like to participate, here is the invitation where you will find all the information and the link to register. I have also attached the poster.

We hope it will interest you and that you will join us. Please share with anyone you think might be interested.

Best regards!
