Sorry all, if you've already seen this, but we're hoping to get
excellent applicants for a PhD stipend on online extremist discourse,
and have so far only received a couple of questions about it, so I'm
hoping to cast the net a little wider. If any of you know of people
with an MA degree who might be interested in a very well paid PhD
fellowship (≈73,000 USD a year for four years, 25% teaching) in Norway
please let them know.
We want more humanistic research on extremism, which we in Norway have
become very aware of as a larger issue than we had thought after Anders
Behring Breivik's bombing and massacre at Utøya on July 22 last year.
The research could be angled in many different ways, and we're very
open to the kind of extremism to be studied. It could be within social
media, games, or anything online. We're likewise very open to
methodologies.
The project has to be within the scope of one of the disciplines
represented in our department: Digital Culture, Linguistics,
Comparative Literature, Greek, Latin, History of Art, Scandinavian
Languages and Literature and Theatre Studies. Applicants must have a
research-based MA and submit a five page project description with their
application.
