"Contribute to the UN Scientific and Technological Community Major Group position paper for the 2026 High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) on Sustainable Development.
The 2026 HLPF, themed “Transformative, equitable, innovative and coordinated actions for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its Sustainable Development Goals for a sustainable future for all”, will take place from 7-15 July 2026. It will conduct in-depth reviews of SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
Eligibility
1. Case studies that support the strengthening of the scientific basis of decision-making and governance for sustainable development.
2. Illustrative case studies that show how science and engineering have contributed to real-world implementation, and that help clarify the pathways, enabling conditions and partnerships that made progress possible.
3. Case studies that demonstrate how science and engineering contributed to implementation, including:
• How scientific evidence informed policy choices or investment decisions;
• How initiatives moved from research or innovation to real-world adoption;
• The actors and partnerships involved (e.g. government, academia, communities, private sector);
• The governance and financing arrangements that enabled implementation;
• The institutional or societal conditions that made the initiative possible;
• Lessons that may inform replication or scaling in other contexts.
4. Submissions should relate to one or more of the six transformation entry points identified in the 2023 GSDR, which highlight areas where coordinated action can accelerate progress across multiple SDGs.
Selected case studies will be featured in the STC Major Group’s 2026 HLPF position paper, and contributors will receive full acknowledgment.
