Hey all,
I just wanted to brainstorm of the list of things we have to do in the
next week. Feel free to respond with whether they've been completed or
not, as well as with any additional things you think we need to cover.
When we flesh these out, I'll update the wiki.

- Rooms - Is Allen Hall confirmed? How many of the rooms have
projectors (if any) and how many have whiteboards (if any)? Will we
need to provide whiteboard markers?
- Food - Are we still doing Bagels/Coffee/Tea during the event? Where
is that at? Also, has Cafe Yumm been confirmed for after?
- Registration - I think registration can be as simple as a table with
nametags and a couple of people to take down names and answer
questions. We'll also need a whiteboard/wall for the open grid
- Promotion - How are we doing on getting the word out? I'll be
writing a blog post on Tuesday or Wednesday and tweeting after that.
It would be great to get an email to the student body on Tuesday or
Wednesday too. I'm going to email SPJ about potential of getting a
mention at their conference. Lastly, I've started an ad campaign for
the Facebook Event targeting it to people at the University of Oregon
who haven't already explicitly interacted with it
- Video/photo - Would we like to do any livestreaming and can we put
together the equipment to do so?
- Wifi - All students will have access. What about any/all outside
professionals?
- Hashtag - Any ideas on what the hashtag (and tag for Flickr,
Publish2, etc.) should be?
- Affiliations - Who are our "official" sponsors of the event and can
we put them on the wiki/Facebook Event/any promotional material?

Anything we're missing?

Thanks!

Daniel

Couple of things, y'all:
For my performing/visual arts editor job, I need to be at a meeting at the Hult Center at 5:30, so I can't make it tonight. But you don't need me, right? It's your event!

My contributions:

Rooms: The rooms are set; I've got the master key. They all have some form of board, but many of those are blackboards. Which seems fine to me.

Food: SPJ is going to pay for the food (right, Ericka and Daniel D?), and I'll arrange it with the SPJ execs. Bagels, coffee and tea OK? Cream cheese? It's too late for catering, so apparently we can go to Costco or Bagel Sphere and obtain the food. Who wants to go to Costco with me on Sunday morning? (They open at 10.) Cafe Yumm is still up in the air. I will work on getting my workplace to sponsor something if Yumm doesn't want to donate. Let's plan to go there (Yumm on Franklin) to debrief afterwards in any case.

Registration: Unless SPJ has nametags (tell me if you do), I'll get some at Costco. We need two volunteers to write down (type in) names of those attending the BarCamp.

Affiliations: The J-School is not an official sponsor, but I believe Ed on Campus and SPJ are. You guys have logos to give to Daniel/Daniel?

Promotion: I'll email the faculty tomorrow; PRSSA is talking about it at their meeting tomorrow night; I'm hoping that the student groups will hand out flyers and talk it the heck up at the student group open house on Thursday (yes?).

Hashtag, I'm lost on it. UOBarCamp? SOJCBC?

WiFi: I'm emailing Andre about that ASAP.

Ta,
Suzi

PS If y'all decide not to meet tonight, shall we meet Thursday or something? Do let me know.

Hey Suzi,
Thanks for the extended update! I can help with the food and Costco
run on Sunday morning. No meeting tonight (unless others want to get
together). Promotion at the club fair sounds like a smart idea. If we
can get it together, I think stickers and half-sheet flyers would do
the trick. Jennifer and Daniel, I'll email you shortly about that

Cheers,

Daniel

Hello again! I'll promote at the club fair.
It sounds like you're bringing the name tags, bagels, and coffee.
Plan on passing the receipt to one of us SPJ'rs and we'll get your
money back by the end of next week.

This is kind of a wild ride we're on my friends.
