Hello,

We have WSM Management servers(10.1) across the landscape, We do most of the configurations/development (content classes, auth packages..etc) manually in PROD management server(of course after testing the same in DEV MS).

Its very hard for us to maintain management server in sync.

Question 1: Do We have any better objects promotion tools available? So that we can move/promote required objects from DEV MS to QA and to PROD.

Question 2: Authors will create the pages in PROD Management server, Since we are creating most of the pages(page IDs) in PROD, is there any easy way we can back transport all these pages to QA/DEV with page same IDs? We did export and import but some how we are missing same page IDs.

Appreciate your help.

Thanks,
Anil

Hi Anil;

Siteport (http://www.siteport.net) was originally built for this purpose.  It lets you migrate sections of the content tree, content classes and metadata from one RedDot server to another RedDot server.

It now also helps move content from one CMS to another (e.g. moving content and templates from RedDot to Sitecore).

Email me directly if you want to know more.

Anil,

1) For promoting content class changes you can export/import templates. Other enhancements are under consideration in the roadmap and are championed by our partner/Alliance SAP. You can look for other extensions here for other possible short term solutions:

2) I'd suggest on a regular basis it may be best to take a copy of production via a project export and replace the projects at the lower level environments. I think you indicated page export/import. If there is a page id conflict than this could yield page ids not being preserved. This allows graceful success I guess you might call it of the page import, although with a side effect you don't like.

Best,
Tim

Hi Anil,

The CMS Sync Tool was built to migrate especially Content Classes between different CMS servers. You can move them in as whole content class or go down to attributes and lines of templates. It supports Management Server starting with version 7.5 up to 11.2.

On the page mentioned you can also find a video of how to use the Sync Tool.

The tool is based on the very robust SmartAPI: http://www.smartapi.de/en/homepage/

You can mail me or Jonas (see Sync Tool page for contact details) for any further questions or a demo.

Best,
