Count number of dynamic links

I have a dynamic link and wondered if there is a way using render tags
to cound the number of links created from the dynamic link?
Currently we are doing the following which is horrible
<% int TotalLinks= 0; %>
<!IoRangeDynLink>
<% TotalLinks++; %>
<!IoRangeNoRedDotMode><!IoRangeRedDotMode><%FooterAnchor%><!/
IoRangeRedDotMode><!/IoRangeNoRedDotMode>
<!/IoRangeDynLink>
to cound the number of links created from the dynamic link?
